To one and all:

The Sox will be on ESPN Classic Wednesday, April 21st starting at 2PM Chicago time.

It's Tom Seaver's 300th win on August 4, 1985 (The same afternoon that Rod Carew got his 3000th hit...) from Yankee Stadium.

If it's the SportsChannel - Chicago feed, it'll be Don Drysdale and Hawk Harrelson doing the game. Interesting note if it's the Sox feed, none other then Howard Cosell came by and sat in with the Sox announcers during an inning or so.

The other stand out point in this game was Harold Baines' great catch in right field late to help keep Seaver ahead.

Ah the 85 White Sox.....Fisk, Seaver, Guillen, Baines, Burns, LaRussa and an 85-77 record.

I'd swear that game was on free tv, but I could be wrong.

Poor me:

Nope sorry. it was Sports Channel - Chicago according to the 'official' 1985 White Sox media guide.

Larussa also leaps out of the dugout and gets an ejection for arguing a play at the plate.

The actual comment was...."Reid Neichols camps underneath it (pause) history!

Lip-

I'm almost positive that game was shown on WFLD Channel 32 in Chicago.

By the way, thanks for the heads up! I'll probably tape it just like the White Sox/Red Sox 1981 home opener at Fenway a month or so ago. Thanks....

That game was officially scheduled to be on SportsChannel but was switched to Channel 32 so that more people could see it. If you watch the game, Hawk will thank the producer for making that change.

Yup, I remember watching that game with my Dad when I was 7 and my parents didn't have cable TV then. Might have to tape that one.

This was a great game. I watched it live. Too bad I didn't tape it when it originally aired. It would be nice to have some of these games in their entirety instead of the chopped versions we get. But I'm glad ESPN Classic exists at all, so I won't complain too much about that.

Oh to be 14 again in the Summer of '85!

Bump.

Hope everyone had a chance to set their VCR's last night or this morning if they are already at work. Should be fun to see again. I'm assuming they'll clip this down to 2 hrs like they do with most of these games.
