Please, in the Chicago area, call 1-800-486-0680 for the nearest Lifesource Blood Center. It is especially important if you are of blood type O.

I have a family member who is the director of a blood bank at a major Chicago Area Hospital, and she intimated to me that it was of utmost importance that people give blood over the next 2-3 days. The demand for blood almost always is greater than the supply, even in normal conditions. The demand for blood will continue to be great over the next 5-10 days due to multiple surgeries and medical procedures, so if you are worried about lines and time, wait 2 days or so before donating.

Again, this has been a terrible attack, but please do what you can to help.

Thanks
Randy Brace

Lifesource is actually a better location to go to do so. All they do is draw blood and they are staffed more appropriately to handle the high traffic.

Just offering a knowledgeable opinion. Call the 800 number, and there is usually a Lifesource location within a couple miles of your work or residence. They are very numerous...

I called and found out that I can't give blood because I have taken a hepatitas shot in the last year,so if you have taken one don't call.

here on the west coast, a lot of the blood banks here were overwhelmed yesterday, even turning some folks away late in the day because they would not get to them, however, the need for blood will continue to be high over the next few days and it is recommended that folks will be able to contribute their badly needed blood a lot easier in the next couple of days. the need and value of donated blood is expected to remain high for several days--if you haven't already, going in the next couple of days to donate blood is a valuable way to contribute to the large efforts underway.

I don't think the posters on this board need be subjected to the thoughts that are swirling around my head at this time.
