..the Sox had a terrible time vs Tampa Bay last year. Reversing that story this year will go a long way toward erasing the stain of last season.

As long as Koch doesn't have to face the mighty Carl Crawford in the 9th, I'll be happy.

On that same note, the Sox had a terrible time against KC early last year. 4 out of 5 so far and that one loss was a flukey bullpen blowup. You'll probably never see performances like that out of Marte or Politte again (and I hope they never test Koch again after yesterday)

Actually, the Sox played KC and Tampa .500 or better. You could make the argument that they should be better than .500 vs. Tampa but if they had gone 6-0 it won't have mattered. 3 games still puts them 1 game behind Minn. Also, they where 11-8 vs. KC not bad considering KC was a decent team. See below. You could make arguments that they Sox vs. Seattle or other teams cost them as much as vs. KC or Tampa. The KC series and the Tampa series mean little in the grand scheme of things. They still have 14 games vs. KC.

Last year? I'm still smarting over that Flaherty homer off Howry in 2000.

The bottom line is that we need to keep playing fun, exciting baseball. I am very happy with the start, especially after the opening day fiasco. While it is important to beat teams in your own division, it counts the same in the standings whether you beat KC or the Devil Rays.

I love OzzieBall.
