SI Power Rankings (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/writers/dan_george/04/15/power.rankings/index.html)

9 -- Chicago White Sox
Esteban Loaiza allowed just 17 homers last season. This year? Five in 12 innings. Assuming Loaiza matches his 226 innings pitched in 2003 -- and what the heck, let's do it -- he's on pace to give up 94.

Kudos to SI for being fair in doing their rankings. Can't say the same thing for the:

How can they rank the 5-4 Yankees above the 6-3 White Sox. The Sox definately looked far more impressive in their weekend split at Yankee Stadium.

Doesn't surprise me that Florida is #1... they do have the best record in MLB at the moment...

... nice to see the Sox in the top ten. If they keep hitting the cover off the ball, they'll move up.

I wonder how these power rankings are formulated?

The Sox took 2 from the Yankees who are OK. The Yankees won 2 over the Sox who are good. On strength of opponents you have to give it to the Yankees.

They get all the East Coast teams, rank them accordingly. Then put everyone else after that.

They did Power Rankings the proper way. It has to be based on the first week and they are up there after 1 week of play, but 1 week a season does not make
