In honor of the greatest hitter the Sox franchise has ever known, I have decided to create an official thread to mark the first home run hit by Frank Thomas during the 2004 season. (I am also really bored, so I thought I would just throw this out there and see what happens.) So, when do you think Frank is going to break out and collect his first home run of the season?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it comes tomorrow.

... against the DRays, Friday... 1st inning. Btw, Franks second will come in the same game, 7th inning (the game winning hit).

Ninth innning, at Tampa on Sunday.

He'd better start soon though, he's on my fantasy team.

He'll be fine. I just find it somewhat amusing that he's had so many near misses, including this afternoon's game. If he done that in June, that ball would have gone out. Chicago in April... blah!

I couldn't pass up this thread because of my screen name. I have a lot of faith in the Big Hurt and I've been looking for a Big Hurt homer every game. If Frank doesn't hit a lot of homers, I'd like him to at least hit consistently and for average, like he used to.

But, as Ozzie said, if Frank doesn't perform well in the four-hole, it's his own fault.

With that said, my prediction is Frank will "hurt" one tomorrow.

Frank is still doing damage. He is making pitchers work by extending their pitch count and showing all of a pitcher's pitches. Also, he is drawing a fair amount of walks as well. I'm not saying I wouldn't like to see more, but I would hardly call him unproductive.

That is what has impressed me the most with Frank this year. He hasn't been getting base hits, but he's been crushing the ball, plus he has been getting his walks. If he loses production in one way, he becomes more productive in another way.

I'm thinking today 4/15, his first or second at bat. He has got to clock one anytime now.

Thursday is supposed to be a beautiful day. It will happen on his third at bat of the day.
