I was close....i said 12,345

Im not worried, the attendance will surely go up as we have night games in the warm air, also winning a few games wont hurt either.

the upcoming yankees series, combined with warm forecasts, combined with half-price tuesday, combined with a 5-3 record (hopefully 8-4 or, dare I dream, 9-3, by tuesday), combined with evening games, will increase attendance to 20,000-25,000 plus levels next week.

That's a shame - today was actually a pretty nice day.

They better draw more than 20 K for the yanks series

Typically, the day after opening day is one of the lowest gates of the season. I don't the think the SOX sell days games very well during the week. The weekend games draw OK, however the SOX should try to stick with weekday night games. I know they play more day games in April due to the weather, however the Yankees series will definitely draw.

Day games during the summer draw much better than day games in April. For the same reason there are almost no weekday day games in September. Why, then, are weekday day games scheduled in April? Move the April games to night and add more day games in the summer. The only issue I see with this is weather.

The thing is only Cub fans love the day game thing. I don't think it fits Sox fans that well. I think they should incorporate more night games.

The attendance was low and two guys i know that are cubs fans had to bring it up to me. They said well the cubs always sell out day games and then i told them that we don't have a bunch of fans who can call off work and go to the games all the time and that we have blue collar fans. Then I said most cub fans go to the games to see wrigley field and not the cubs and that most fans wouldn't know what was going on at the game. Then they said the cubs would make the playoffs and that i didn't know anything about baseball because i had never played before.

That's why my mom and I decided to go today. We didn't want to have to deal with a large crowd and we knew we had a better chance at getting good seats. Plus, once opening day is out of the way, people head on out to work and school.

All day games this series was stupid. They'll get a good amount for the night games, but those weekday day games are tough.

Low attendence: exactly what Reinsdorf and Co. deserve after such an exciting offseason.

They will. When individual ticket sales began, the games in that series were already "limited availability" in certain parts of the park.

Today was a day game in April. Those NEVER sell well.

JR should be the only one worried about attendence. Maybe this will cause him to sell. He then could devote his full time to making the Bulls the worst team in NBA history!

Was that paid attendance or the number of folks actually in the park? (I said 11,000 would show up)

Typical April day game with a low attendance. So what else is new? It has been this way for the last 40 years that I know of. Sox fans are working during the day. Attendance will be fine.

This is no big deal. White Sox fans are blue collar people. Just the opposite of the North Siders. They are nothing but yuppies that can take tons of days off from their businesses, and college dorks who ditch class.

Well sorry that us Sox fans have jobs and can only call off for the home opener!!! We should be like those unemployed Cubs fans. Excuse me, Wrigley Field fans.

MLB doesn't announce the number of people actually in the park anymore. All announced attendance is paid ateendance. Got you beat Lip, had it at 11,700. :D:

The owner of our company took my department out for lunch yesterday and I was really close to just taking off after that and just driving down to the park to catch the rest of the game. Unfortunately I dont get that many sick/personal/vacation days so its kinda hard to go to two day games in a row during the week. I agree that it has a lot more to do with the type of fans, corporate jobs seem to get a lot more vacation and personal days (not to say there arent a lot of white collar Sox fans either because there certainly are quite a bit), I work in the industrial/manufacturing industry and I consider myself lucky that I get 3 sick days on top of the 2 weeks vacation I have. But I have to use it wisely and already took off Tue for the opener.
