If Mark ain't going then I would assume Danny would start in his place. Mark could then pitch tomorrow against Mussina.

Watching the YES Network pregame show and they just asked this question of their viewers:

"Who is the most dangerous hitter in the White Sox lineup?

A. Frank Thomas
B. Magglio Ordonez
C. Carlos Lee
D. Paul Konerko"

After yesterday's performance, I'm guessing most Yanks fans are gonna go with B.

If Buehrle's sick, and it's technically Wright's turn and we're facing a nobody, it would make sense to just let Wright go. Don't you like our chances better against Mussina with Buehrle pitching?

Ah well...win today. That's my motto.

OK thanks. But as far as Buehrle not starting, he would have to be physically decapacitated for him to pass on this start. He's been wanting to start in NY since 2001 and now he finally gets his chance. He'll do fine because he doesn't rely on speed.

And as far as Mussina is concerned, I think this is a great move by Ozzie to try and take this game and counter Mussina with Wright. Mussina has been killed by the D-rays his first 2 starts. If Wright outpitches or adequately duels Mussina, it would give him great confidence. I think that building confidence is important at this point and if Wright can go out there and get a W at Yankee Stadium against a weakened Mussina (but it's still Mussina), that would do wonders for his confidence this year. If we win this mismatch today and then Mussina is still down and we take 3 in the bronx, I can't tell you how good we'll look.

Hawk's right, he overthought it and then rushed it. You could see he dropped down sidearm on the throw which is when he used to have more throwing problems.

Talk about a love/hate feeling with Jose. I tend to agree with you though. Jose has been the hidden albatross of this franchise since 2000. I rather have a slick fielding ss who can hit a light .270 than Jose's 30 homers, 30 errors, and .230 avg.

I just hope Mark can get some innings where he has to pitch a little less, he's already at 43 pitches, need to get some quick 1-2-3 innings so he can make it through the sixth. I would love for him to get a win for his first start at Yankee Stadium, would be another great confidence booster for this team.

Then his next plate appearance he hit a two rbi double and later scored on another hit. They beat the Angels. Jose is fine defensively, and as long as we don't lose, I'd rather his errors come on a day where we are swinging the bats.

I recommend the www.mlb.com gameday version. It is very fast - almost as fast as radio or TV.

He said "look at the successful Latin managers that are in the majors. Pinella, LaRussa, Alou, and Pena." Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't Pinella and LaRussa Italian, not Latin? Just a question here...I'm trying to bone up on my baseball strategy.

It's the top of the 8th, we're winning 5-2, and Lee gets a hit that moves Big Frank over to second. So we've got men on first and second with one out.

We know Frank has terrible speed. Why wouldn't Ozzie pinch-run for him in that situation? Get someone out there more likely to score from second should Konerko or Crede get a base hit? Especially since Oz has been talking about wanting to be more aggressive on the basepaths.

Turned out not to matter, but I'd be curious to know what everyone thinks?

With the score only being 5-2, you could play for one more run and if you don't get it, the Yankees are down by three, and if you do, the Yankees are down by four. Either way, with that lineup, I would rather not sacrifice the potential of Frank for more speed in an instance where the runner might not even score.

Just how I feel about that.

Okay, there's a lot to talk about.

Willie singled to left field bringing in Rowand. I think it was Rowand... I had to step away for a second.

6-2 Sox.

Willie took second on a flyout to CF and Magglio hit a strange hopper to the second baseman, which he could not handle and wound up with a double, Willie coming in to score.

7-2 Sox.

Frank grounded out to first.

Well Jim, if we play the rest of the AL like we play the Yanks, we're in good shape.

Wow, he really said that without dot, dot, dot by default?

He said something to the effect of "The Twins have lost players to injury and free agency, Cleveland isn't what they used to be and KC had a great year last year, but I would be shocked if the White Sox didn't win their division this year."

BTW, maybe you guys don't see it in Chicago, but does anyone notice that since Torre got his contract extension, he kind of seems like he doesn't give a ****? I was just watching an interview and they were like "What happened with DePaula after that 13 pitch at bat to Frank Thomas? He kind of came unglued." and Torre non-chalantly laughs and says, "Who knows. Osbourne was ready to pitch though!" looking really uninterested. "Joe are you worried about the slow start with the bats?" Torre; "Nah, we'll get there." I don't watch a lot of interviews so I can't tell if Torre is always like this or not. Just seems that now that he isn't under fire from Steinbrenner, he's settling in a bit.

I agree. Keep the positive vibes flowing. What we need to do is jump on Moose early and often. If the bats are clicking, we can win. Mussina is vulnerable right now.

It's the first week of the season. He has no reason to worry. The back of their rotation is troublesome, but someone will step up. If not, George will go buy someone.

If I were Torre I wouldn't be too worried either. Once those bats heat up they will be tough to beat.

Just glad ours heated up first :)

My guess - he knows there are 157 games left in the season. Ronny Woo Woo Santo moaned in pleasure after the Cubs won last night, calling it one of the greatest wins he has seen. Hawk isn't that stupid.

This was a good win for us. But we have a lot of work to do. We know this team is capable of winning a lot of games, including the division and maybe more. But we need to do it, not talk about it.

Willsy apparently doesn't allow follow-up questions this year :D: I'll have to keep that in mind next time I call. I was waiting for Beltin' Bill to take a breath, but I heard the click before I could say anything else.

5 favorite things about today's game:

1) Valentin smacking a homer after the two errors.

2) Matsui getting tagged out when the ball rolled fair on the first base line.

3) Buehrle's defense. You see that stab he did on the liner up the middle?

4) Carlos Lee barrelling into Miguel Cairo to break up the double play. Now THAT's old school baseball!

5) Hearing A-Rod scream "Tip! Tip!" at the umpire after striking out against Buehrle with the bases loaded. Hey Al, it wasn't a tip. Sit down and shut up.

For tehr record, I have never seen a team argue as many calls as the Yankees do. Great win for the Sox today.

Go Danny Wright!

For me, as I said to Willsy :D: , the play of the game was in the 8th inning with one out when Willie Harris tagged up and moved into second on a flyball to center by Valentin. With two outs and in scoring position, Willie allowed himself to score on the error by Cairo on the Mags grounder in the next at-bat. This run could have been huge. In this case, it didn't effect the outcome of the game, but it was a huge heads up play, something you don't generally see. I love it. Not sure if Ozzie should get the credit on this one, but there's no reason to believe Willie would have done something like that last year based on history. It's Ozzie ball...heads up and aggressive, taking everything you can get. This is going to be a fun year if this continues.
