Several highlights from the 2nd YankMes game yesterday

Plays of the game:
(1) Olivo's pick off of Matsui at 2nd --choked off the YankMes run scoring tide in the wildest Garland innning. This was critical, as it held the YankMes to only 1 run before the Sox run scoring machine woke up

(2) Ozzie leaving Jon Garland in as he struggled with control in the 3rd and 4th innings--we've seen this "other guy" Garland many times before, and usually his start is over once this happens--and Ozzie never even got anyone up in the pen--Garland responded, came out of his funk & finished 5th-8th innings in top form--if Ozzie can consistently nurture this maturity out of Garland, he could finally realize his potential as a pitcher, and give the Sox a very solid 1,2,3 starters

(3) Ozzieball base running. It didn't help that the YankMes couldn't even catch the good throws, but Harris, Perez, & Olivo racked up solid steals, Harris sac flied in Perez, and all day long the Sox were thiefing the extra bases, from Valentin scoring from first on Maggs single while Bernie Williams dazed in the sun, to Harris's alert grab of 2nd base, after Perez and Olivo had scored on the FC to Jeter when the YankMes catcher Flaherty had his head up his butt after dropping Jeter's throw--Harris was practically on 1B when he took off while Flaherty held the ball in hand with his head down at the plate.

Crede and Valentin tentatively starting to break out of their slumps. Crede's HR a nice shot to LC, and while Jose only collected one hit, he added a couple of BB to muster his role at the front end of the order pretty well

Yeah, bay-bee! The lads are playing with heart. I really like how they rebounded after the opening day loss.

I am very excited to see the Sox "new style" this season.
