Are they actually going to be a threat this year? Is I-Rod that good that he could even turn the Detroit Tigers around?

Every good team has a good pitching staff. The Tigers do not have that. Look at the Royals, it won't last.

I'd say give it until late May. They may continue playing good ball for a while. Good thing we don't play then until July...

Could they trade for pitching mid-season?

Big Bats: I-ROD, White, & Munson.
These guys account for 1/2 the team's TB.
The bullpen is pitching well & the starters ok.
But we all know White will not last a full season.
White AB: 448 (03), 455 (02), 422 avg (01-03)
I-ROD AB: 453 (01-03), but 551 (03)
Munson AB: 141 (01-03, 313 (03)
The crux of this story is that they are a competitive team when these 3 are healthy but they are very thin in the depth dept.
They lose 1 of the 3 for any signif amount of time & they are a weak team again.

They look like a .500 team to me.

By fourth of July they will be out of the race.

They'll fall off, but good for them for being competitive for a little while.

Well I for one sure hope they are improved. Maybe we will play them a little tougher this year as opposed to that 10-9 disgrace from last year.

The Tigers will win the division, just like the Cubs will win the World Series over the Red Sox.
