Valentin is worthless. He should have bunted in that situation, so that Harris would have been on third with Maggs coming up. The Sox could have already scored a run, but of course, Jose had keeping swinging for the fences. Ugh!

i have to say- new york has pretty decent announcers. they are a trio- and they gave a-rod some guff for arguing that third strike garland threw him. they used replay to show that it was obviously a strike.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and 30 minutes from either the Giants or A's stadiums, hence "Giants and A-holes"

But for all intensive purposes, Cali really is the land of "Fruits anf Nuts" both figuratively and practically.

Garlands control looks good so far. The double for the hit to Sheff was in on the hands. Sheff is just a good hitter. Matsui's hit was a shattered bat hit. Good pitch there too. He is hitting the corners quite nicely today so far.

I think that they're just so arrogant that they think if they didn't swing at it, it can't have been a strike.

Jeter is the worst culprit. I think he complains more about the strike zone than any player this side of Barry Bonds.

FWIW - MLB.COM says the ball Sheff took for strike 3 was just at the top of the zone - still a strike, but a great pitch by JG to throw a high strike by Sheff - who has very fast hands.
