as the HR king of receivers.

Pudge is my fave position player of all-time, but at least this is getting his name/career mentioned again.

Damn. How old is Piazza? 34?

He is 35, his DOB is 09/04/68

IMO he is the best offensive catcher in ML history. I know there will be arguments about the era he played in, but there is no denying that the man can hit. I'd take him on our Sox!

Especially if we picked him up for scraps in the 99th round of the MLB Draft.

I agree. Also, the era isn't as relevant as Piazza's not really a power hitter. He's a contact hitter with power. I'd argue that him and Frank were the best right handed hitters of their generation.

Piazza is a great hitter, but a drill-rod of a team-mate.

He cannot catch anymore, yet he refuses to move to 1B, which only hurts his team.

I wouldn't want him

He may be a great player, but he has one key disadvantage: he's a Met. Never understimate the misfortune that comes with that.

No, no, that's when we pick guys like Jerry Manuel's kid and Ron Schueler's daughter.

Duane Schaeffer drafted two of his kids as well.

Drafting Piazza was a favor to Lalsorta (sp?), who is his god father.

Well in that case I wonder if "Don Tommy" has any more god sons who can play 2B?

6 playoff appearances, 4 pennants and 2 rings in the last 35 years ain't bad. Wish the Sox had that kind of 'misfortune.'
