Willie and Valentin need to be exiled to the bottom of the order.

We can't have Magglio bat with nobody on and 2 out EVERY 1st inning!

1 Rowand
2 Lee
3 Ordonez
4 Thomas
5 Konerko
6 Crede
7 Valentin
8 Catcher
9 Harris

That leaves us with virtually nothing at the bottom of the order.

Does Uribe deserve a shot to lead off?

I like Carlos in the 2 spot with his ability to steal a base, but I say give Uribe a stretch to see what he can do. But Jose is an 8 hitter with pop at best.

I agree on Carols in the 2 hole. I'd also be willing to give Rowand a shot at batting 2nd.

Too bad Frank doesn't have better speed. He's one of the best at working a good count.

Valentin is fine in the two spot, he's just having trouble reading the lefties, especially with their breaking balls. We'll want him in the two spot against NY.

I was thinking about this at the start of the game today after Jose struck out in his first at bat. Why not just move Carols to the 2 hole, he did good there last year.

1 Harris
2 Lee
3 Ordonez
4 Thomas
5 Konerko
6 Crede
7 Valentin
8 Rowand
9 Catcher

I think the best option is Jose against Righties in the two hole and Rowand against lefties. Why?

A. Rowand would benefit from having Maggs hit behind him.

B. Lee doesn't kill lefties, not as well as he should.

C. Despite his ineptitude against lefties, Valentin has hit over 20 homers off of righties the last 4 years.

I'd rather have 500 at-bat per year holes than 600 at-bat per year holes.

We need baserunners in front of the big boys.

Plus, I think Olivo will be a very pleasant surprise offensively this year, and I think Valentin's production will benefit from being lowered in the order.

Willie's going to suck. I say he should be in AAA, but Kenny loves him.

Lets see what happens when Manos isn't facing a lefty. He should be much more comfortable at the plate from against a righty.

If this continues for a while, then yes, I'd think about moving Carlos into the #2 spot.

Ozzie doesn't have much to work with for the first two spots, but his choices for the first two games were terrible. Uribe should never hit #1 or #2 under any circumstances, until he learns to draw a walk, and Valentin should never hit that high against a lefty. Subbing Rowand and Valentin is the way to go at #2. I am still holding out hope that Harris can get on base consistently, but the Sox desperately need a good, veteran leadoff hitter, and there is nobody on the roster who fits that description.
