The Indians traded for last season's 15 game winner. Looks like the Indians didnt give up too much, just two minor leaguers.

This is an excellent pickup for the Tribe. I was wondering what the Astros would do with one of those guys from their rotation last year. Somebody had to be left out. This would have been a great pickup for the Sox. PooPoo it now, but this certainly could come back to bite them in the buttocks in the future.

I realize they don't have a spot for him now, but I'm still wondering why the Astros didn't hold on to this guy. If you can throw a ball with your left hand decently you're almost guranteed a roster spot in the majors for a few years. For God's sake look at Jim Parque. And this kid was pretty good. I don't get it. :?:

That was quick. Robertson was just demoted a couple of days ago. KW got caught napping.

Not really. Jimmy Williams named Redding his 5th starter pretty soon after Clemens signed. I think it was the first rotation set in the majors.

OK, he's a lefty, and he was cheap for Cleveland -- both bad.

Buuuuuut, aside from his wins, his numbers last year weren't all that amazing. Did he get tons of run support or what? How'd he win so many?

IP 160.2
W-L 15-9
ERA 5.10
WHIP 1.52
OAVG .272
BB/9 3.59
K/9 5.55
HR/9 1.29

Unimpressive numbers, aside from the Win total. The fact that he was a 27 year old rookie would be another concern. I'll pass.

While staring at Robertson's 15-win total from last year---please keep in mind that Danny Wright once won 14 games in a season.

The article linked mentions he got an average of 5.4 runs per game.

:eloaiza:
I would have won 30 games with that!

Racist cartoon characters? Stop being PC . Its a traditional name like blackhawks. You want them to change their name and jersey? You want illinois to change? Get over it

In June and July he was 3-0, 3.58 and 4-1, 3.18 respectively. The rest of the year he sucked. He sounds like a guy who just got hot for two months.

Yeah, it's too bad we couldn't get him and that 5.10 ERA he had in the NATIONAL LEAGUE!

"We'll give Honel and Cotts for him and if the Astros pick up his salary, we'll throw in Reed!"

Traditional? Just because something that is wrong hasn't been corrected for a long time it does not make it traditional.

Should slavery not have been abolished because it was "traditional"?

I also suppose that the Washington Redskins is not an offensive name either. Funny how some people want to "honor " a race that was practically wiped out many years ago.

Yeah, KW really screwed up failing to grab a 27 year old pitcher with a 5.1 ERA in the NL in a good pitchers' park. That probably translates to a 5.7 ERA with our club. Does anyone really think that Rauch, Diaz, and Cotts can't do that?

Way to completely misread what I wrote. I never said the Indians should change their name, but they need to lose the smiling face of Chief Wahoo. Maybe, in your honor, we could call them the Cleveland Minnesotans, with the mascot being a guy with his head shoved up his ass.

Are you sure you would have wanted Robertson on the Sox? History lesson:: Sept 26,2003 at 'Bankrupt Ballpark' in Houston... Brewers 12-Astros 5,Robertson was absolutly clobbered in that game that helped put the Cubs over the top and knocked the Stros out.
Robertson was shelled in the biggest start of his career and the tempermetal Jimy Williams did not forgive him for that.

So was Cotts last year, but everyone seems to think we need him around.
