Leave the guy alone. You can't tell anything from spring training, he has only been throwing two new pitches all spring. Yesterday was the first time he threw his two best pitches, his sinker and slider. I'm for the guy, he'll be all right.

And all you Rauch supporters out there need to shut the heck up, he's horrible.

I'm with you all the way except for the Rauch bashing. I think Rauch is gonna be lights out too.......when he gets the chance.

i dont see why people would spend so much time bashing someone before the season starts.

unless, of course, it's shingo.

Why bash Shingo? ST's still got a ways to go.

Yeah I know, his ERA could get even higher!

Look....I would be lying if I said I like the way he has pitched this spring.

At the same time, he is being stretched out, working on a newly acquired cutter/change combo -- this is what ST is for.

For someone not pitching with his best stuff for the most part, his K's are WAY high and his BB's in check.

Honestly, at this point, he could be a 4.00 ERA guy as easily as a 5.00 one.

Of course if Rauch is indeed 100% healthy and hitting 92-93+ again, with a sharp curve, that means we could afford for Show experiment to fail -- just relegate him to long-relief duty to help Shingo deal with LHP and slide Danny into 4th slot......I know, I know, it's a scary thought :)

I like the fact that he worked all Spring on his two new pitches and finally used all his pitches on Tuesday. I'm not saying his the best 4th starter in the MLB, but I think he can get us 12-13 wins. I will take that any year!

This is how the rotation is shaping up:

1. Loaiza VS his 2003 self (2.90)
2. Burhle VS Colon (3.90)
3. Garland VS Buerhle (4.20)
4. Show VS Galrand (4.50)
5. Wright VS 3-Headed Monster of himself, Cotts and Porzio (6.00)

1. Sizeable drop-off.
2. Wash
3. Wash
4. Wash
5. Dramatic improvement.

We'll see.

I know KW got us Wells and Ritchie, but he scored us Loaiza with a new pitch, and we all liked it. Schoenweis with a new pitch might be a pleasant surprise. I agree, 12-13 wins would be nice. 15-16 would be great. And it ain't reg season yet. Go Scho!

hey, it's spring training! i think (HOPE) he'll be fine...

we gave up some nice pitching prospects to get him because decent lefty starters are hard to find...ask the flubs!!!!!

Interesting. Your prediction is 91-71, but you have absolutely no confidence in Schoeneweis.

I don't either, but I'd love to know where those 91 are going to come from.

If you can, I'll refrain from saying "This thread sucks sucks".

I believe that Rauch, Cotts or another pitcher will be able to come up and if no one can really fill the role that KW would trade for someone.

Pitching is important, but you can't just look at the rotation, point out how many wins each pitcher is good for and predict based off of that. You have to look at the whole team. This offense, 4 out of 5 pitchers and most of the bullpen is good enough to win us 91 games. Takatsu and Schoenweis will be among those that cause our losses more often than not.
