One of my biggest memories of the 1983 White Sox is the White Sox placemats that were given away at Pizza Hut

Besides the obvious image of Julio Cruz jumping onto home plate after Baines' sacrifice fly to clinch the AL West, I'll go with the 8-0 drubbing of Cleveland courtesy of Floyd Bannister. Carlton Fisk hit two HR's in that game..... my only game of the year I saw in person because it was the only game that my dad could afford to take me too. But I'll remember that game till I go to the grave.

Without a doubt...Watching Luzinski hit the roof off of Oil Can in person. I remember holding onto those yellow poles and feeling the vibration of the fireworks. He hit another tht didn't miss the roof by much, Baines hit one and Marc Hill squeezed hom Ron Kittle for a 6~2 win.

I had those placemats too!!

Then 20 years later getting 16 of those guys to sign the back of my old seat. Priceless.

I remember thinking that the Sox players must be really unattractive, since they were winning "ugly." Then again, I was just 8 years old. :D:

Julio Cruz hitting his only homer for the Sox that season in the eighth off Paul Splittorf on August 22 in KC. Splittorf only gave up three hits that night but the Sox won 3-1 behind the complete game pitching of Hoyt. As far as I was concerned, that the was game that clinched the Western Division crown.

wow the Julio Cruz only HR memory. That's a nice one, now if I can only forget Jerry D & the playoffs memories.

I don't remember who was broadcasting the games that year. In the clinching game they made a corny statement which I ate -up and had me smiling. With Cruz at 3rd , Harold coming to the plate, and the crowd roaring one of them said, "Nellie and Sherm have to be looking down and smiling".
It's funny, with Harold coming to the plate, I knew the game was over.

Anyone remeber the Sox wrist watches they gave away? I still have one somewhere. The fucnniest part about that was the comerical that i remember for that promotion with Luzinski taking light swings at a ball with a watch on the barrel to prove the qualitly of the free watch. LMAO!

I think it was against KC . Not sure of the date, but i saw my first inside the park homer by Rudy Law.

I remember there was a rain delay before the game so the field was slick. Law hits a routine base hit to dead center. Center fielder comes in falls on his ass and slides as the ball bounces over his head and slowly rolls to the cf wall. Rudy was blazin around those bases. I'll never forget it .

Besides the great looking uniforms :D: let's go with...do you remember?
Luzinski's 3 roof top shots and a great rookie named Kittle?
Harold is still my all time favorite! Beer me! :gulp:
LaRussa moving Fisk to #2 in the order was huge also!

I was at this game, hung over out of my brain from my bachelor party. And, I was on my honeymoon when they clinched.
