NEWS FLASH! SCOTT SCHOENWIES SUCKS! He gives up 3 runs, then allows a homer to Mark Ellis, and then nearly allows another homer, as it sails to one step in front of the wall.

He's going to get killed. He's aweful. I dont want him to start.

It's funny and sad at the same time. Are Kenny and Ozzie crazy? Not everyone in the MLB is a lefty, I hope they know that. Schoenwies is getting hit hard by Mark Ellis, friggin Mark Ellis. What does he think A-Rod will do to him at the Stadium?

I've never really understood handing him the job. IMO, Wright has more upside and potential to develop into a 3 or 4 guy than Scott. We have enough lefties in the pen, so maybe they're trying to find a spot for him...

Seems to me he's been outperformed by Grilli, Wright and Rauch...

I have been wondering and saying the same thing all spring. I don't understand what they see in him as a starter. Part of my is almost glad that he's getting shelled. I would rather it happen in Az than in KC and NY.

I am just hopeful all the "It's his job" stuff was just mental stuff. I pray that Cooper get's in somebody's ear hear, because he is NOT a starter on any kind of contending team, IMO.

I'd take:

Buehrle
Loaiza
Garland
Wright
Rauch

over

Buehrle
Loaiza
Garland
Schoenweis
Wright

any day of the week.
At least Rauch has a ton of upside. Schoenweis's upside is that he could be a 4.00 ERA pitcher. I'll take Rauch or even Grilli over Schoenweis. If there is a concern about having too many young arms in the rotation, then they should look to the Marlins who won the World Series with a rotation full of young arms.

I've said this before here... I think you guys are overstating the idea that Schoeneweis can't pitch to righties.

Last year his splits were:

v. lefties: .227/.293/.277
v. righties: .275/.329/.374

Now yes his numbers against lefties were great, but that doesn;t mean his numbers against righties were bad... in fact they were better than Buehrle's:

.285/.339/.423

Also, as far as this spring goes, he got hit hard his first outing, struck out a bunch of guys in his second, and I have yet to see how today's runs have scored aside from the Ellis homer. Were they even earned runs or is Pedro Lopez playing SS again?

Based on his improved numbers against righties last year, his very good K rate last year as well as this Spring, I'm still willing to give him a chance.

If he falters, Grilli and Rauch have both pitched well this Spring, so if KW doesn't make a trade, one of these guys will get a shot.

Benson? Uggh... that guy just seems like a turd.

That's how I thought it should have been from the get-go. They NEVER should have handed this guy a job. He should have been in the pack w/ the rest of them to duke it out for the 4th and 5th spots. It's almost like they didn't want to say that they were going into to spring w/ 2 question marks in their starting rotation, so they just gave someone the job.

I agree, and you see a lot of that, take Willie as an example. Now i know Uribe is giving him a run for his money but for some reason it's Willies job to lose, he's prroved very little at the major league level, dont really understand that.

Man oh man - if one of our minor teams can make a serious title run, that manager needs to be looked at for a role with the big club because it sure doens't look like there's a lot of talent there (outside of the OF, where the guys are looking decent).

Lopez will be one of the youngest players in AA this coming season. Anderson, Sweeney, and Valido are both 9 months removed from being drafted. Reed is having some problems, but he's only been a pro for what, 20 months??? Borchard is back in AAA nursing a pulled quad, Rauch has performed well thus far.

Guys like Spidale, Mike Jackson, etc etc etc, big freaking whoop if they suck. They aren't high draft picks and they aren't top prospects. They are borderline players to begin with. People need to settle the **** down when we have guys that are 3+ years from the majors or absolute scrubs in there and let the game slip away...
