John Garland vs Jerome Williams

So nice to see hawk and DJ! DJ got married over the off season!

A 1-2-3 1st inning for Garland. He'll need to perform BIG TIME for the Sox to contend this year. BTW...congrats to DJ...may the Lord bless his new marriage always.

Yipes...Willie hit the ball hard, but right to the first baseman.

We have a very little batboy. Hope Uncle Bud is watching Wisky-Illini on CBS instead of the Sox on 'GN.

Willie gets robbed by 1B, Rowand gets robbed by the left fielder, and now Carlos grouns out to the 3B. Ugh.

Didn't see starting lineups.

Alomar singles to drive in Magglio

Tied 1-1 after 2 innings. It's so great to hear Hawk and DJ instead of Chip and Steve from yesterdays game.

Sox up 2-1 in the top of the 8th. Mr. Zero on the mound. KDub in the booth.

Hawk thinks PK has a pretty swing from the right side. KW and Hawk don't think there are many pretty righthanded swings. Jeremy Reed has a pretty swing from the right side according to KW.

Haha, pretty swings...my favorite. Did they get some radar readings on the Big Koch? Last I heard on the radio an hour ago was he may have hit 93-94

03-14-2004, 04:19 PM
Sox win it 2-1. Some very nice pitching by Garland, Koch, Shingo, and Michael Jackson.

03-14-2004, 04:27 PM
That was a good game. Willie had a SB and hit the ball hard (but right to the first baseman). Rowand was getting some good shots in, as well as Carlos. Maggs had a SB and scored. I'm already noticing these little things that have been non-existent the past few years.

Nice clip they just showed. I think Hangar was on TV when they showed big hurt hitting #400.

03-14-2004, 04:35 PM
Mike Jackson looked good again. Looks like he is gonna take the last roster spot.

03-14-2004, 04:45 PM
What was it 2 runs on like 3 hits earlier in the game....It's nice to see the run manufacturing we have going lately...

Why can't Garland strike anyone out?

As long as he's getting outs, and not giving up runs, I don't care how he does it.

03-14-2004, 05:10 PM
He struck out a couple, right? Does it really matter as long as he gets the outs?

03-14-2004, 05:45 PM
Because if he's ever going to be more than a #4 pitcher, he's going to have to learn how to strike some guys out. (or completely eliminate the gopher ball from his repertoire)

That's a great question. He has the stuff. A strikeout IS important. The less the ball is in play the better.
