I know I've been to old Comiskey, but I don't really remember the experience that well. All I really conceretely remember about the old park was being fascinated by how many god damn layers of paint there were on my seat (it was chipping pretty badly). Also County Stadium. Been to Fenway and I can only say they can't tear that POS down soon enough.

I've only been to Old Comiskey, but hopefully I'll get to add Wrigley Field to my list. No, wait, that park got landmark status! :(:

When I was a kid growing up in Indiana, I saw the Beatles at Crosley! Never saw a ballgame there, though.

Other parks I've been to that are no more:

Riverfront Stadium
The Vet
Cleveland Municipal

As for Fenway -- I've got great memories of seeing the Sox there a few years ago. Saw one of the best games ever with Pedro dueling Sirotka. Unfortunately, the Red Sox won the game 1 - 0 with an unearned run. It was still a great game, very exciting.

The whole weekend we were there, we sat in other people's seats -- all field level seats. The ushers didn't move us and we enjoyed the park a LOT. Can't say much good about the other parks I mentioned above, though. RIP.

I could be wrong, but I thought it came down, since it was in the parking lot of the new football stadium...at any rate, it is no longer in use...

1) Old Comiskey--as long as you didn't have an obstructed view it was a great place to watch a ballgame. When it was packed it was louder than hell (like the old Stadium). I still miss the dank 75 years of urine smell.

2) Candlestick-cold as stink

3) The Met: Now it's the Mall of America. That may be an improvement, it was kinda dull up there.

pinwheels,

Le Parc Jarry was weak! It was a single deck "temporary" stadium which didn't turn out to be too temporary. They were in there for 8 years, when the original plan was for one year!

Beautiful Le Parc Jarry:

I was at Candlestick myself once and it was freezing where I was sitting. But then I went down to ground level to use the ATM and it felt like it was 100 degrees out.

The Astrodome is still standing. If you recall blimp shots of Reliant Stadium during the Super Bowl, you probably noticed the "8th Wonder of the World" standing right next to it.

Astrodome-Houston (amazed me at the time)
Candlestick-San Fran (cold and windy!)
The Big A-Anahiem (good fireworks show)
Milwaukee County Stadium (lots o' fun)
Riverfront Stadium- Cincy (not very remarkable)
Exhibition Stadium-Toronto (horrible place to see a game. seats were facing the large empty space that was BEYOND the right field wall)

Forbes Field
Crosley Field
Tiger Stadium
The Vet
Griffith Stadium (DC)
Shibe Park (Philly)
County Stadium
Municpal Stadium (Cleveland)
Polo Grounds
Sportsman's Park (St. Louis)

As for my mom, she actually was GIVEN tickets to first game of the 1959 WS at the LA Collesum (which by the way was the FIRST WS game west of the Mississippi) because her boss couldn't go. Since she was from England - and didn't care about baseball - she just gave them up for nothing! UGH!!!

Yes Detroit has an affinity for abandoned buildings dotting the skyline.

As for me its just

Tiger Stadium
Old Comiskey

After the homerun deck is completed next year I guess we could say new Comiskey, based on how much the park has changed since 1991.

I wonder why the Tigers aren't still in old Tiger Stadium. It couldn't have been all that bad if it's still standing. Renovate like they did with Yankee Stadium.

Comerica is an amazing stadium though. I want to see the Sox there so I may travel to Detroit this summer to catch a weekend series.

I guess I could have added Buffalo's War Memorial Stadium to my list, affectionately known as "The Rock Pile" for ~ 20yrs.

I think they felt that they couldn't really compete with an old stadium with no suites or anything. Tiger Stadium was on its last legs, it was time for a change. I also think they wanted to move downtown and help refresh downtown with Comerica Park and Ford Field.

Comerica is a nice park but does anyone else notice that Comerica, Jacobs Field, PNC park, Great America park, the Phillies new stadium, and the Padres new stadium all have basically the same outfield design?

I closed out Cleveland Municipal Stadium with a Sox sweep... :D:

I also saw Nolan Ryan pitch there and the Rock 'n Roll hall of fame concert--awesome!

Went to the Astrodome once, and Old Comiskey countless times. Of course Old Comiskey was the best of them all!! :D:
