With the release of fatboy Castillo, I was thinking of the fat pitchers we used to love. Here are a few, does anybody remember any others?

Mickey Lolich
Wilbur Wood
Brit Burns
Wells
Fat Freddy Fitzsimmons

Most recently

Colon and David Wells...but we didn't really love either of them...

Bob James was a husky fellow.

Rick White was pretty big...don't think he was a favorite around here, though.

I still have nightmares about that goof.

George Brunet, who according to Jim Bouton in Ball Four didn't wear any underwear.

I don't recall Burns being that big. You missed an obvious one though, Lamarr Hoyt. What a rotation - Burns, Hoyt, Dotson, Bannister and Jerry Koosman.

Alex Fernandez, although he wasn't that fat as a White Sox. He was huge in high school, and when he played with the Marlins. Terry Forster was fat with the Sox, but became a tub of goo with the Braves.

Dick:

Terry Forster wasn't fat with the Sox. I've got the video to prove it.

Speaking of the bouncer:

Rick While gave up seven runs -- six earned -- in an inning of relief today against the Tigers.
White entered camp as a top contender for one of the vacancies in the Dodgers' bullpen, but he's now given up 10 earned runs in 4 2/3 innings. His struggles would seem to be good news for Duaner Sanche, who is out of options, or possibly Bill Simas.

"Top contender" and Rick White should never be used in the same sentence.

Wasn't Goose Goosage a bit rotund?

I will always remember Castillo as the guy who got upset at fans
heckling him and said something along the lines of "why do they
tell me how to pitch? I don't tell them how to flip their burgers."
Even then he was thinking of food.

Anyway, I always wanted to run into Castillo at a Sox game and
say "hey, Carlos, what's up with the gut? Looks like you've been
eating too many of those burgers I've been flipping for you."
Not especially clever, I admit. But it would've been fun.

Goose rotund? Not on your life. He was tall, lean and in the words of some of his former teammates 'scary,' when he threw that fastball at hitters.
