TUCSON, Ariz. -- One of the long shots to make the White Sox' pitching staff is starting to force his way into a closer look.

Francisco Campos, a minor-league Rule 5 pickup at the winter meetings in December, got the first unofficial promotion of the spring Monday. Relegated to B games in his first two outings, the 31-year-old right-hander now will get a chance to show what he can do in Cactus League competition.

Today was the day to publish an article about Campos. Daily Herald (http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/sox.asp?intID=38055112)

"He's going to have a couple chances to throw in the "A'' games soon,'' manager Ozzie Guillen said. "He knows what he's doing. He's a veteran pitcher (and) would be a pretty good long reliever out of the bullpen. He throws strikes, commands the pitches really well and has a tremendous forkball. He has a good chance.''
