1. The Home Run Derbies of the past few years have been a very telling exercise about how ****ing seriously the man takes these. He also left his suicidal wife in the hospital to compete in the 2001 one, after missing a few games (incidentally, he came out looking more 'roided out than ever).

2. The corked bat incident. Accident my ass.

3. The 1998 fraud perpetrated on the American public about how he and Mark McGwire were great buds; McGwire at least admitted they never spoke outside their games against each other.

4. The failed charity he set up that was rumored to be used for various relatives to skim off of and abuse.

5. The failed charity he set up that received more money from Mark McGwire than it did from Sham-ME*.

6. Comparing himself to Jesus Christ.

7. The mysterious missing $20,000 cash in a paper bag.

8. Telling a Sun-Times reporter, "**** my teammates" when the issue of his loud radio playing came up.

9. 'Roids and his holier-than-thou quotes about it this pre-season.

10. The Rick Reilly interview. Guiltymuch?

11. Smacking his wife with a rum bottle. Go, you gladiator!

12. Taking curtain calls when his team was being destroyed routinely in 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002.

I judge him by the company he keeps.

General Principles; anyone who has Moronotti fawn all over them deserves to be hated; puts Sham-Me on the top of the list, followed closely by the Flubs as a whole

Exception: should this happend to JR--in which case the apocalypse has arrived, all bets are off

for the most basic reason of all, he's a cub.

The fact that he sprints out to right field at the beginning of the game a lot faster than he runs the bases, among others.

The fact that so many "fans" love him. (I am a contrarian by nature, so if so many millions love him, he must really be loathsome.)

He has the biggest ego in all of sports. He thinks he is God's gift to the game, when in fact he is VERY overrated as a player. He consistently cheats, yet nobody cares except Sox fans. Doesn't play the game to win, but to raise his personal stats. Even with all these things against him, every one in this city loves him. Frank is a better player and a better person off the field (which may not be saying much), yet Frank is considered the bad guy in Chicago. His cheating forever stained the record books. Guys like Henry Aaron and Roger Maris have been spit on because of Mr. Roids. Little kids idolize this man, not knowing the truth about their "hero", and their parents don't tell them any different because they are usually brain dead Cub drones like most everyone else.

Similarly, greeting players upon their arrival to spring training one season by saying "Welcome to my house."

All of that and on a more shallow note he looks like he's been shot repetedly in the face with a pellet gun. That's how bad his complexion is.

This thread is hilarious. Great posts.

In the context of steroids, Sammy's corked bat is the most outrageous thing to happen last season. I hate him for that, and for hiding like a baby whenever a reporter asks him a tough question. Weak.

Other than home run totals the only career stat hes got Frank beat in is strike-outs .

Can't believe we forgot about "the hop" and "the kiss." I can't stand when he does that. But I can stand when he does the hop on a ball hit to right center field for an out, or when manos made fun of his kissing. Priceless.

I hate Sammy because he has millions of people genuinely convinced that hes a nice guy who just likes to play when in fact hes probably one of the biggest , phoniest ***holes to ever play the game . At least guys like Barry Bonds and Ty Cobb are/were honest enough to be themselves . Sammy Sosa is going to Hell .

He continues to take the posture that he's "bigger than the game of baseball, itself".

Uses his conflict-of-interest friendship with the "Commissioner"
(he gets invited to sammys bday parties in dominican) to help bend the rules when it comes to Sir Sammy. Sammy still has NOT COMPLIED with the Commissioners Edict, slapping him in the face so to speak. Is the Chicago Media Covering this?
No.

back in 1998 (despite the fact this was a Media/MLB propoganda ploy)

The Typical Sammy Sosa home run is a solo shot in an 8-3 game. There have been years where sosa's RBI total has been barely double his Home run total.

IIRC he hit 3 (maybe just 2) home runs a couple of years ago in a game in Colorado in the late innings after the Rockies were up 9-0.

Home runs in meaningless situations and strikeouts in close situations is the Sosa legacy.

The hop and kiss is the most arrogant thing I have ever seen. When a guy stares down a home run ball, he is admiring the hit, but still is showing up the pitcher. Sosa does that stupid hop whenever he hits the ball in the air. Some guys rip on Valentin for his on field talents (or lack thereof), but when he mocked Sosa, that was a proud moment for Sox fans.
