"We're $7 million over my targeted $58 million total. Who loves ya Sox fans?"

Its so funny that JR tries to make it seem like he is breaking the bank by setting a terrible limit on payroll and then 'exceeding' it. Ha. Maybe that would work if he went 50 million over the limit to a number around 110 million. Even then, that is still only half of the Yanks. What a load of crap the organization tries to feed us.

It wouldn't be that bad of a payroll to start the season if we put the money in the right places.

I.E. no Koch, Konerko or Valentin. That saves us, what, 19 million? We could have gotten a stud pitcher in addition to a Jose Cruz or something like that. The problem is in the players listed above (and not even Valentin so much).

The funny thing is, the Yankees with that salary level still won't win the WS. I think they will have some serious personal problems on that team.

It has Maggs at less than $10 million. Most of them are accurate, but I'm not sure all of them are?

you're looking at the wrong column. that number is the avg. annual $ value of his contract, for use in determining the luxury tax.
