View Full Version : Another honest question

I want to know if this is in the back of anybody's head here.....
Is anybody concerned that the front office might panic and make a huge trade that will hurt the current Sox???
Seriously, consider the circumstances......
-It's late July.
-You're 8 games back of the Wild Card and there are 4 teams ahead of you in that race.
-You're showing very little signs of winning against the elite teams.
-You've got Reinsdorf as an owner.
If the Tribe should sweep you (not saying that they will, mind you), it could send quite a panic in the front office.
Is that a concern for any of you????

In my opinion the only way Williams could really hurt the team would be to trade Ordonez, Foulke, Lee or the young pitchers.
I wouldn't mind trading Foulke but only if there was someone ready to take his spot. Trading Durham or Baldwin doesn't really hurt the team that much. There was talk of trading Konerko I wouldn't mind that but it depends on who we get back. But as you pointed out we have Reinsdorf as our owner and who knows what is going through his mind.
Please come to the park

Yes, I've said that concerns me for a while. I said a while ago that I don't think this team can compete, but I still believe they have a bright future. I've also said many times that I think KW and JR could easily set us back 2-3 years with a dumb trade, which is very possible. We'll have to wait and see.

I wouldn't mind a trade if we unloaded the right players, or if we got value in return. We just need to keep the heart of the team together.

If JR unloads just to reduce payroll then we'll be getting minor league ball players, value unknown.

It's in the back of my mind a little bit but I'm not too worried about it. I don't think (I hope at least) that JR would be that stupid again. Obviously as weakened as this team is they are still hovering around .500. Once everyone gets healthy next year they should be serious contenders again. Plus he will probably cut 10 million off the payroll by buying out Wells contract since he is out for the season.
