I finally found a local newspaper that has fair and positive coverage of the Sox! The Daily Herald has about 4 good articles on their website about the begining of spring training. Here's the link to Sox Coverage (http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/index.asp) . Check out the article by Mike Imrem on the main page then check out the other articles in the White Sox Notes section. There's a good article about Takatsu in the notes section. All the recent articles on spring training are worth a read. Enjoy the fair and balanced coverage.

Mikef,

The Daily Southtown's another one with decent Sox coverage at Daily Southtown (http://www.dailysouthtown.com/index/dsindex.html). Joe Cowley's the main Sox coverage dude.

here is something for the people who want to read about the sox- i'll try to do it regularly if people find it makes their browsing a little easier. I'm all about promoting lazyness:

Thanks for all the articles, all a great read. It was great to read something somewhat positive about this time, especailly from a columnist, a welcome change from the doomsday Mariotti comlumns. I know there are a lot of bad things about the management, but I am ecstatic the season is so close to starting. It is also great to read all the players happy, laughing, in good spirits, I dont remember reading too many articles like that under the Manuel regime. I truly hope that Ozzie can erase my skepticism about his skills by really motivating this team and giving them a winning attitude.

yep, it'll be great to read about actual baseball again instead of the LA rumor mill at the Clubhouse

After reading that Koch article, it's pretty obvious his velocity hasn't returned.

1)He didn't make any mention of it, he just said the "velocity will come, I am just trying to hit my spots" (I believe the "spot" he is speaking of is the bat's sweetspot)

2)Someone on this board made mention that At Soxfest, when Kelly Wunsch was asked about Koch's velocity, he looked up and completely avoided the question. If I know the difference between a guy throwing 92 and a guy throwing 98, the Wunsch definitely does. He would have said something about it.

5 million dollars for the most overrated stat in baseball that our guy that is supposed to be automatic can't even get.

Our payroll is low, but it's a disgrace when you are thinking we are paying about 20% of it (12 million) to two players (Koch and Konerko) who are absolutely horrible. Not only are they not good, they are actually a detrament to the team (especially last year when Jerry kept trotting them out there). After all, Reinsy doesn't want 12 million of his money sitting on the bench.

A 60 million dollar payroll isn't bad if you spend it the right way.

Any White Sox fan who saw the picture on Guillen and Reinsdorf on the front page of the Tribune's sports section should be worried.............very worried.

I think Guillen will bring a lot of positive coverage to the White Sox just with his personality alone. He's got that quotability factor that you need in a manager. And he has that Sosa likability that the media flock to. I think stories will even out in accordance with the records and baseball action going on throughout the season.

Unfortunately I live in the western 'burbs, so you can never find the Daily Southtown around here. I'll have to start checking out their website more often.

I've had the Daily Herald for years and it is always pretty fair as far as Cubs/Sox coverage goes.
