Pants Rowand/Rowland

I am confused between Pants Rowland and Pants Rowand. I think Rowand is a South African name which was originally Rowlandi, but that it got shorted to Rowand after the 1959 revolution in Rowanda.

As Harry used to say Rowand spelled backwards is dnawor and Rowland spelled backwards is dnalwor. Love that Falstaff.
