Considering money is not an object to the Yankees, you have to throw that out of the equation for them ... strictly looking at it from a non-financial standpoint then, New York clearly got the better end. Was it a good move for Texas? Yup, but that's because they actually have financial considerations to deal with.

Yankees no doubt. It was something the Rangers had to do, but it wasn't a great move for them. It may work out for them as they get a pretty good player in Soriano that they can help build around with the likes of Blalock, Teixera, Young, etc.
It helps them because they get out of a good portion of his contract and can now use that money to make a run at a top flight starter next offseason when guys like Wood and Morris may be available.
Yanks still get the better end though. They get the best player in the game and wind up paying him basically $16 million a year...less than they are paying the inferior Derek Jeter.
