From NEWSDAY:
The Yankees and Texas Rangers have held serious discussions concerning a blockbuster trade that would bring Alex Rodriguez to the Bronx for Alfonso Soriano, according to an American League source.

Rodriguez, desperate to get out of Texas, apparently would be willing to yield to his fellow shortstop - Yankees captain Derek Jeter - and play third base.

Wow. Somebody called into sporting news radio last night around 1:30 am, and reported this would go down today. The caller said "You heard it here first" and the host was completely making fun of him and whatnot.

I, for one, will be pissed if this goes through. Jeter would move to second I presume...which would make the best double play combination in history. If they got A-Rod...that would just be unfair.

Actually, now that I think about it....Jeter probably will want to stay at SS. So KW will try to swing a trade with Valentin for Jeter, and JR will approve if it's OK from the Yankees end.

It said in the article that A-Rod would move to 3B.

Lee Sinins reported this in his email update today...he's usually right.

Tremendous, that would piss so many people off. I think Peter Gammons would have a heart attack on air having to break that story.

I hope PayRod forever rots in Texas.

If this trade goes through, would that make four players on their roster who have signed 100+ million dollar contracts (A-Rod, Giambi, Jeter, and Brown)?

Yea that new CBA was really going to stop teams from spending LOL.

The Yanks would have a payroll of almost 200 million with six other big market teams close to 100 million.

and then there are the Sad Sack Sox.

Good. I hope this trade does go through. That way I can concentrate my hate on fewer teams with greedy SOBs for players...

The Yankees have agreed to this trade if that means anything...probably not. Did anyone else hear that Jose Contreas might also be involved in the deal?

Maybe for now...no way they wouldn't address that next. Don't worry, they'll probably only go get Vidro...

Here's a link to an ESPN story that mentions Contreras, as well as 2B candidates.
