Every SoxFest Ive been to, the guy freely walked around on his own. Not this time. And Not Anymore. I think this is the way its going to be from now on, til He Sells or Passes On. Those guys looked ready for action, Uncle Jerry has Angered enough people for enough time ........

It's unfortunate that people are that childish that they feel the need to attack him physically.........

Yeah, I noticed JR had a big guy with him when he was downstairs on Saturday walking the floor. Makes sense. I don't know if anyone is crazy enough to start anything with him, but I don't blame him for taking the precaution.

I was at the sports bar on Friday night and Jerry was sitting at the table next to us. His huge bodyguard was lurking around our table trying to blend into the crowd. As Jerry and his bodyguard got up to leave, a bunch of bar partons yelled at him to sell the team. Pretty funny!

You know how much goons like that cost? That's why the team is over budget.

In a way I almost feel sorry for Uncle Jerry. But like it says in the good book, you reap what you sow.

You treat fans like crap, especially in Chicago, you're going to get it back tenfold.

I know he says that stuff doesn't bother him but how any human being can say that constant abuse wouldn't bother them is either delusional or in serious denial.

No, I didn't notice this because we saw him several times alone, including Sunday in the elevator. Once again Henry.. I think it's just you that has so many negative issues with the media, the Sox, hotels, etc. etc...

FYIY, another poster pointed out the bodyguards in the Soxfest thread. I wasn't there, so can't comment, but clearly it wasn't just Hangar who noticed the muscle.

I saw Eddie Einhorn was around by himself all over the place over the weekend. Good guy - former wrestling promoter too (lot of people don't know that).

Just to back up Hangar, though, I did see JR with a big dude on Sat afternoon.

I actually work with one of JR's bodyguards. He's an old family friend of the Reinsdorf clan and never has a bad thing to say about JR the person. But when I press him on White Sox issues, he clams up and you can't get one word out of him.

Maybe the body guard is there to keep Jerry from hurting the fans? I mean he does want to win more than we do!!! I can see him flying into some blind range on some teenaged fan because the Sox didn't make the play offs.

There's always two sides to a story!!!

No, it isn't just Hangar who saw them. My girlfriend and I spotted JR and his "posse" on Friday night around 10PM. They escorted him into the hotel and downstairs to the convention area. He was flanked on all sides by these guys who kept looking around the room. I'm pretty sure at least two of them were body guards.

I was at the sports bar in question on the Friday. In fact I talked with Henry. When I walked in to the bar with my wife and daughter Reinsdorf was standing right there smoking a huge cigar. Anyway, Reinsdorf walked past me and I said a friendly, "Hello Mr. Reinsdorf." He said a friendly hello and that was it, which was fine.

Reinsdorf clearly had a bodyguard or plain clothed security person along with his small group. The security guy was obvious to everyone in the bar. The security guy was a tall African-American with glasses. I spoke with the security guy briefly when my 2 1/2 year old daughter ran into him. The security guy seemed like a nice guy.

Is is that odd that the owner of the Bulls and White Sox would have a security/bodyguard while in a bar? Jeez, count me as one who thinks that is a good idea.

Heck, it seems to me that on Friday when Thigpen made a brief visit to the hotel sports bar he had some type of security escort with him.

I swallowed my pride and did approach his table (past the bodyguard) and ended up having my picture taken with him on Friday night. He actually seemed pretty friendly. Maybe it was because I was the only person in the bar that would actually talk to him. I still wish he would sell though, especially since he didn't buy me a beer or offer me one of the 3 stogies he had in his shirt pocket.

I wasn't there, but the man your describing as the bodyguard sounds like the guy who works in the main office coordinating access to the clubhouses before and after games. He also escorts Reinsdorf through the crowd to his car after games.

Yeah really. Especially when you're 70 years old. There are a lot of knuckleheaded fans out there.

I didn't say he never had someone with him.. but there were times he was alone, and even with "security" he was still approachable. Just walk up and say hi.. he doesn't bite.. :D:

Good to hear that Thiggy is doin' good. Didn't he take a nasty tumble last year and end up in critical condition?

Einhorn, on the other hand, is a frickin' vampire! :D:
