Though my weekend was fun-filled and action packed,
I have to say the service in the Sports Bar Knuckles was
extremely poor as well as the restaurant in the Atrium.
It shouldnt take 50 mins of me waiting for my Nachos
and going to ask for them, and being told they ran out
of them, "sorry". Also, "waiting" 30 mins for a table,
when there were about 59 of them sitting empty was
a bit annoying. But on the positive, Jordan the bartender
did an excellent job, was fast, courteous and remembered
the drinks I ordered.

That's why I usually go over to Houlihan's. The service is usually better & they don't charge nearly as much as the overpriced Atrium Bar. $ 3.00 for a soda, with no refills, was the going rate for our designated drivers drink, unbelievable.

We had no issues at all. Drinks came fast, food was great. Henry.. I think you just bring out the worst in any situation you are in. :D:

Oh God,

Great story...

I went over to Houlihan's with a couple of buddies around 4pm on Saturday after the Fest, and their heat was off!

We decided to stay, and they piled us into their back room right next to the fireplace, and kept the doors closed. The food turned out ok, so all went well.

We felt bad for the wait staff, as the place was mostly empty....what an awful time to lost their heat....the Saturday afternoon of Soxfest.

The waitresses on the floor were working their asses off. They did a great job.

I especially liked the frosted mugs the import drafts came in.

The Hyatt did a nice job, IMHO.

We went to Dick's Last Resort for dinner. The waitress we had was loud, rude, obnoxious and liked to throw things at us. Which of course was what made it so much fun!

Honestly, we went last year and had a really great time. It's fun exchanging insults with the waitstaff and getting into a napkin fight with the table next to you. :D: Just don't ask for an extra straw...

The band was pretty good last year too. This year, we ended up sitting too close to the door and got tired of the cold breeze every time somebody came in. I think we had more fun at the Big Bar anyway.

We were in Houlihan's Friday night and Jon Garland and his girlfriend came in and sat at the table next to ours. But it was hilarious because this behind was talking about how Garland needs to step it up this year. Then they starting talking about what autographs they should get the next day. And the guy went on how he wants to get there early to get Jon Garland's. Meanwhile, Jon and his girlfriend are sitting there just dying, as am I & my wife. This guy just didn't have a clue he was sitting next to guy he'd been talking about for the last half hour.

Hyatt service was nice, the barguys sat nite were kickin a**
with the service and the drinks. the Restaurants are what
im talking about. Remember how long it took to come up
from eating? The Nacho story took the cake though.....
they "ran out" of nachos, but never came out to tell me.

I saw him just before we left.

We were over signing the steel beam and happen to notice someone had written "flyingsock.com whitesoxinteractive rules!" across the top. Brian was standing there and said "there's Hangar18 right there" (it was written huge right in the middle). I looked up and said you must be from the site. What name do you use? He told me and I was like "OMG, I didn't even recognize you."

I met so many people this weekend it was hard to keep track.

Sorry I couldn't hang out longer. Had fun chatting with you!

My new bride doesn't quite understand the atrium bar experience. She was wondering why I got home at midnight when Soxfest was supposed to end at 9 :D:

Actually, I didn't recognize you guys either. But, I happened to be standing there when Mrs. IWC said "I wonder if Henry signed it?" Heh heh. I knew immediately there was only one person she could be talking about- that's when I saw "HANGAR 18" on the beam.

BTW, I live downtown and hit Dick's Last Resort every once in awhile. They actually have really good ribs, but I'm not into the rude-waitress-experience, so I usually just grab carryout and take them home.

It was great to hang with everyone. I have to say that I had a blast Saturday with IWC, Mikster, Henry, etc... Dave coming over was nice to. I'm glad you guys got the opportunity to meet him.
And Henry delaying Aaron's departure... mama mia!! But Aaron & Loaiza... priceless.

It actually took us a little while before we were able to pull a couple of tables together. They had a dance floor in the spot we wanted to go. We were still pretty close to the band. I recognized a couple of people from their pictures on the site and just went from there...

Saturday night I don't think anyone got there before 9...

I had the same problem as Teki...I was unable to find you guys. :(: I did meet a lot of great people, but missed out on you guys...maybe next gathering.

Regarding the atrium bar, at times I waited a looooooong time for a refill. However, I realize that they were packed so no complaints here.

Overall, the hotel staff was polite and did a fine job but I agree about the atrium bar. I bought several $6.00 MGDs (yikes) out of the bottle and it wasn't until I ran into Hangar and ChiSoxMike on the convention floor that they informed me that I had been fleeced since they had a special on $1 drafts that night that the bartender "conveniently" didn't mention. I wasn't too happy about that. It was great to finally meet you guys though! Nice to put some faces to the names of the posters here. Sorry me and my girlfriend couldn't stay later that night to drink with you guys but after my Sandy Alomar bat purchase and buying a sweatshirt for the little lady, I was about tapped out of cash, even for $1 drafts! :D:

My room was hotter than the 7th level of hell but they sent someone out right away to fix the thermostat and all was good. Not to mention that Carlos Lee was staying on our floor. He was in a good mood as we were both coming out of the elevator at the same time. He was nice and stopped to say hello to us. Man is that dude big! Looks much bigger in person. Also, I had a close encounter with Jerry Reinsdorf late Friday night around 10PM. I thought about saying something to him, not to be an ass, just to have a normal conversation and get some things off my chest but JR was flanked by 4 people, one of which was an angry looking large body guard and they were escorting him to the convention area. I guess old JR won't mingle with us fans anymore for fear of heckling. Frankly, I'm surprised he showed his face there.

Friday and Sat night were great. I am glad that I had a chance to meet everyone and share some drinks. Hope that we can all get together some time during the season to watch a game, tailgate, etc.. I look forward to it!

We did on Saturday night. Great "black and blue" NY strip with a killer caprese salad to get things started.

No, but I hear it's very good. Saloon Steakhouse is another good place that gets relatively little recognition but is better than its more "traditional" and overcrowded / overrated brethren.

And I didn't make it as planned at all on Saturday night. I've been fighting a case of laryngitis since Thursday (hence my relative silence on Friday). It still hasn't gone completely away. It makes for poor conversation.

Speaking of Stetson's, did anybody watching TV in their rooms catch that ad for the place on one of the Hyatt's channels? I swear to God the guy "conducting the interviews" was half bagged.
