Why would the Angels weaken their rotation and bullpen and add cash to do it?

IMO it's too good to be true. Even though I think Erstad's a stiff.

You had me at " .....from CBS Sportsline"

Ya, that guy said it was on foxsports.com and I couldn't find it anywhere. However, I'm not registered there. I didn't even see an option to obtain the info if registered. Not sure, I guess it could be. I'm not sure I like it. It does look to our advantage, but Percival may be get injured (proned) and that would put us in a tight spot. Erstad would probably be a good replacement for Konerko with Reed in center, or him playing center with Thomas and Gload platooing. I like the first option better. Washburn is pretty decent, but he isn't the man. 10-15 with 4.43 ERA. Plus Erstad had a down year due to injury. He is a good player, but I'm not sure I want him trying to get back to form at our expense. I wouldn't do it. I think Konerko's value would be better used with a trade with the Dodgers. Nothing is for sure, but the Angels are just attempting to swap their question marks.

The always reliable cbssportsline message board. First off, why would the Angels want Koch? The difference in salary between Percy and Koch isn't much. Which would you rather have? Yeah, me too. They have no need for Rowand. Their starting OF is set and they have enough backups. About the only one that would make sense is Konerko if they were to trade him for Erstad. Made up.

If the Angels do that move, they are really stupid. I'd do that trade in a New York second, if I'm Kenny Williams. The Sox would bolster their rotation and bullpen while at the same time getting a veteran CF to replace Rowand and cash to boot? Y'know the old saying: If it sounds to good to be true...

I also got a trade from CBS sportsline

Actually, its a crosstown trade, which is weird-

Konerko
Koch
Rowand

for

Prior
Patterson
Farnsworth

I'm crossing my fingers.

Alright guys, there's rumors and all out nonsense. Prior would not be traded by the Cubs for almost anyone.

Someone's been takin' their stupid pills. And about the Angles trade....if that happened it would be one of the most one-sided trade in MLB history. It couldn't be true. But damn that would be an awesome trade. Get rid of 3 s**t players (Koch, Rowand, and Konerko) and in return get a good starter a good closer a good centerfielder and cash too. NO CHANCE this goes down.

Maybe if we throw in Borchard they will throw in Vlad!

The Angels do need to lose some payroll - but not like this. Trading two fan favorites and a former #1 pitcher would be a hard sell in the OC, even with the great offseason moves.

this ain't it, but I do expect another trade out of Anaheim before April.

Bats: Left
Throws: Left

Born: June 4, 1974, Jamestown , ND
Full Name: Darin Charles Erstad
College: Nebraska
Experience: 8 years

He is good, but an injury caused him to have a bad year. He's got a lefty bat, so that's a plus, but I don't want a guy to attempt a rebound season with us.

2003 Season
Nobody knew it at the time, but Darin Erstad's season was a washout from the first week. He felt a bit of pain behind his right knee, kept playing for another two weeks, then disappeared into a haze of visits to the trainer's room, to the disabled list and to medical specialists. He played 67 games, none after August 6, and began the winter with fingers crossed, hoping the hamstring injury that troubled him all summer would heal over the winter.

We get a solid closer, a very good 4th starter, a lefthanded hitting CF and CASH for Koch and Konerko's contracts and Rowand?

yeah...right

If Kenny Williams pulled off this trade he's instantly GM of the year. No way it happens.

That's always the case when the basis of the rumor is a post on a sportsline/yahoo/whatever message board.

Are people actually taking this seriously? There is no way in hell the Angels do that. It makes NO sense to them at all.

This happens with every thread that starts with "Rumor on ___ message board." There are those of us who immediately roll our eyes and know that the "This Thread Sucks" guy should be summoned. Then there are those who say "there is no way this could be true, but if it is..." which is ridiculous. Then there are those few who actually are foolish enough to believe it's been discussed between the teams.
