The Diamondbacks signed P Jim Parque to a minor league contract, with an invitation to spring training.

Parque has a 5.42 ERA/-34 RSAA in 103 career games, including a 11.94
ERA/-14 RSAA in 5 starts with the 2003 Devil Rays. Parque has an
unprecedented streak of 3 consecutive years with a double digit negative
RSAA, despite pitching under 10 games and 30 IP. No other pitcher had even
a 2 year streak, while the only others to do it twice, in their entire
careers were Jack Wadsworth, Andrew Lorraine and Mike Gardiner.

There must be a velocity thief that hangs around the White Sox clubhouse. As Springsteen might say, when it goes, its gone gone.

hey, you never know, maybe people won't be able to kill his lightning 80 MPH fastball with the air there being so dry.

Remember Parque's bitter parting words about the Sox? I hope Parque sticks with the D-Backs long enough to face the Cubbies. If Parque gets lit up, good. If Parque shuts the Cubbies down, good. It's a winner either way!
