The fact that Magglio must be traded is hard to dispute, since the only thing harder to swallow would be getting nothing for him when he bolts Chicago next November.
That said, would it not be better to trade him in July than before the season starts? Teams that are in the chase are desperate and tend to pull the trigger too fast and pay too much. Even if the Sox are in the hunt themselves, why not wait for a sucker to emerge before the deadline and get more bang for the buck?
