...is here (http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/cws/news/cws_press_release.jsp?ymd=20040122&content_id=630071&vkey=pr_cws&fext=.jsp)

Hmm, didn't somebody say one of the Cubs games was a night game? It's not listed as such here. And a 1:05 home opener - guess I'm taking a personal day...

That's what stinks about the early part of the season. All day games. I'll have to take a vacation day to go to Opening Day as usual. :(: Not to mention priming the VCR for the other day games when I'm at work. The key is staying away from the scores.

Well, at least they get the Yankees out of the way early in the season. Also, they don't play Detriot at all in the first half.

I seem to remember Minnesota getting fat on them in the second half last year...

I'm glad I already put in for opening day off, I pretty much assumed it would be a day game :(: Oh well, still nice to take a day off in beautiful early spring, maybe it will be 35 and windy with tons of rain like last year. :D: I cant wait.

MLB teams always do that so that there is an open date in the event the originally scheduled home opener gets rained/snowed out.

Looking at the schedule, I only see 4 games on Monday Nights at Comiskey. 2 vs. Minnesota, 2 vs. Cleveland.

Makes me wonder a little bit if the sox asked for this just so there would be less half price Monday games.

I hope they didnt do this on purpose.

We are due some nice weather for a change on Opening Day. The last three years it has been cold/rainy/overcast. The last nice day was Opening Day 2000.

I wish it were as simple as taking a vacation day to get out of school. I would've probably had them all used up by now though.

anyone remember the last time the Sox opened the season at home, cause I certianly can't. It has to be like 10 years at least.

I think 1990 or 1991. When was the last time they opened at home at night?

I think the reason we never start the season at home is because of the cold chicago spring. We never get any attendance when its cold so i dont blame us for not playing at home

It is at the request of Sox management that they do not open the season at home.

I'm not saying I mind, heck I prefer watching them games on TV when its 40 degrees in chicago. I was just wondering if anyone remembered when the last time was.

The last time the Sox opened the season at home was in 1990 against Milwaukee (Sox won 2-1 on a sacrifice fly by Scotty Fletcher. Sammy Sosa scored the winning run...) It was at the request of management because that was the final season for old Comiskey Park.

I believe the last time the Sox opened the home season at night was in 2000 when they got incredible warm weather in beating Anaheim.

You know it all amigo. Have any extra '69 or '70 media guides laying around you would like to get rid of or trade?

That 2000 game was pretty badass....I remember the packed house chanting "cubs suck" on the way out....too bad they played backstreet boys during the fireworks show....

Sucks not to be able to watch them at night, but I can honestly say there is nothing worse in life than shivering through an early April night game at the Cell. It's brutal with that wind off the lake.

That was a lot of fun. Ray Ray's beautiful catch stretching to nab it in shot right field. Big Franks first inning bomb and I think Konerko hit one as well.

Anyone know why the Friday game at home against the Cubs is always a day game now? I thought it was better at night.

ChiWhiteSox1337

Supposdley during the last night game vs the cubs was when Carlos hit the bomb in extra innings, too many fights broke out between fans and they took up all the cities jail cells.

LOL, it's funny but it's not. I think at least one game of the series should be a night game. Maybe Sunday night game of the week on ESPN.

Thanks. I remember there being big fights after the last game at Wrigley that year too.

This seems totally dumb to me - is the weather really going to be much different on April 5 as it is on April 13?????

I was at the 1990 opener at Old Comiskey and it was one of the more memorable moments I've had... plus, I don't remember the weather being cold at all... it's a total hit-and-miss no matter when you have the game...

The fact that all 3 opening games are during the day is ridiculous. Do they really think they're going to get crowds for three straight 1:05 games against KC???

Actually, it was sunny in KC last Spring. I looked at MLB.com's highlights of that game recently.
