Some of our dwindling options include:

Greg Maddux
Scott Erickson
John Burkett
Jose Lima
Shawn Estes (sad but true)
Orlando Hernandez
Rick Reed
Damian Moss

and...Todd Ritchie

I wouldnt mind bringing in Burkett only b/c my expectations for Schoenwise are insanely low.

Sox are Fools if they dont get Maddux now. I know, he doesnt want to come to the AL, and he might get lit up here, but anything to keep him away from the Cubs, who I fear are
going to OutMedia us with his signing here .....

Damian Moss would be the best option available right now, but don't look for the Sox to be signing him anytime soon.

You really should stop harping on this. The phrase that is not going away: "Self-imposed payroll."

I agree with you about Orlando Hernandez. Hopefully the Sox were one of the 20 teams watching him work out recently:

I'd rather watch him get lit up pitching for the Flubs, personally.

Of course, if he doesn't get lit up, I'd rather see him ANYWHERE ELSE.

Please, no Lima

I know he did OK last year.

But for much of his career, he's made Navarro look like Roger Clemens.

The No. 5 spot really isn't that nig of a deal if we can get a solid No. 3 guy through a trade of some sort. If we can get rid of Schoenweis or relocate him to the bullpen, we've got a list of our own in Cotts, Rauch, Wright, Grilli, Person, Pacheo, and others. Someone from that group is going to step up in ST and most likely perform better than at least half of that list above.
