He could fit into the sox rotation....in 2005. Just went under the knife at the end of the season and won't be pitching for atleast a year.

Maybe for 2005. He'll probably miss most of 2004 because of TJ surgery.

Still though, this is what good GMs do: buy when the value is low. Once again we miss out.

Miss out on what? As a Cubs fan, I'm not exactly thrilled, kind of a non-move really; similar to the Sirotka signing a year ago.

Not quite he probably won't even pick up a ball until may and wont start throwing more that 40 tosses until July.

It usually takes about at least a year and a half to come back from tommy john and thats if everything goes perfect.

This guy never impressed me even when he was healthy. The Flubs can have him.

Don't get so upset or worried about the free agent signings. It seems everytime that someone signs with a team we start gnashing our teeth and lamenting about how that player could have helped the Sox and we missed out, etc, etc...

You can't sign them all and when you do you need to invest wisely and have a hole to fill. We have plenty of arms to look at for the #4 and/or #5 spot in the rotation and plus their most likely healthier than Dempster. It would have been a waste of dollars for this year anyway.

What ever happened to Sirotka anyway? Did he pitch last year? Is he still with the Cubs?

I remember the day last year when the local news showed Cub pitchers there warming up and there was Sirotka. The news report had a snippet of Rothchild (sp?) saying how well Sirotka was throwing and made it seem like Mike would be pitching with the Cubs in Chicago that season.

Anyway, I wish Mike the best wherever he is.

We already have one reclamation project with the Rifleman. One bionic arm per team, obscure league rule. :(:
