I don't want any part of Todd Hundley.

That is the worst idea I've ever heard in my entire life.

No Offense.

Compare the current actual line-up with the line-up the Sox would have if they did the proposed deals:

C - Olivo in both; wash
1B - Thomas in both; wash
2B - Harris actual, Ginter proposed. Ginter's better.
SS - Valentin actual, Nomar proposed. Nod to Nomar.
3B - Crede in both; wash
LF - Lee in both; wash
CF - Rowand actual, Damon proposed. Edge to Damon.
RF - Maggs actual, Borchard proposed. Edge Maggs.
DH - PK actual, Hundley proposed. PK's better.

So the trades would make the Sox better at 3 spots (SS, CF and 2B) and worse at 2 (RF and DH). Two of the spots at which they'd improve (SS and CF) are very important spots. OTOH, oat one of the spots where'd they'd get worse (RF), they'd get much worse. The Sox would also add Williamson and Anderson to the pen but would lose Koch, Wright and 2 prospects. Overall, I think the moves would make the club a little bit better. They'd also drop about $5 million net off the payroll. Not sure if JR would be willing to use that money on payroll, but if so, it could be used to find a different RF or DH (Mondesi? Burks) and/or a pitcher (Burkett? Rick Reed?). They'd also free up money for next year, as Hundley's deal expires after '04 whereas PK's goes through '05. Interesting idea.

Is that Matt Anderson? He makes Cliff Politte look like Eric Gagne.

If signing him would make Politte look like Gagne, I'm all for it! :D:

Seriously, hasn't Anderson he been hurt the last few years? IIRC, when he was last healthy, he was decent.

Yeah, Anderson used to throw around 100mph before he got hurt and was pretty decent. Not sure what his velocity has been since then. The Tigers tried to use him as a closer with bad results. He is more of a setup guy.
