Who do you think is the Starting pitcher the Sox are most likely to sign to a minor league deal in hopes of Lightning in a bottle (ie Estaban Loiaza)
Keep in mind thought that not all of these pitchers can be had for Minor league contracts.

Moss. Too bad he probably cannot be had for a minor league contract...

Moss has the best upside.

I Know there are alot of people who said something similar about Estaban Loaiza. And thats the point of this thread.

There is a minor problem with this poll though. Only Dempster and Rusch are the realistic Minor league contract candidates.
Astacio, Burkett, Hernandez, and Stephenson will probably all get 1-2 mil 1 year contracts.
Rick Reed will probably get a 2-3 mil 1-2 year contract.
Moss will probably get a 2-3 mil multi year deal (2 or 3 years)

One last thing, we should scratch Dempster off of the list since He had tommy john surgery on august 4th, 2003 and will most likely be a non factor next season.

Why isn't there a choice for "None?"
Trade Loaiza, get Pachecho, Diaz, Rauch up with Garland and Buerhle and crap shoot for the best.

Ahh sorry forgot none, just make El Duque none since he would only go on the DL anyway.

doublem23, what school do you root for from the MVC?? I am a die hard Sox, then Redbird fan.
In response to this poll, i hope that the sox go after more than just one of these guys, for i think that if they pick 3 or 4, then they have a good shot at one of the guys being a no.5 and if they are lucky a no.4 or no.3 guy or a bullpen guy.
My guesses are that they go after El Duque, Astacio on minor league deals and then sign Moss for cheap.
