By my rough calculations the Sox are $4.2m over JR's budget. My numbers could be off, so if you can spot where I went wrong I would appreciate the assist. I added in Santiago's $550k assuming he makes the club. I also went with $1.5m as Schoenweiss' salary, as an estimate.

Ordonez - $14
Konerko - $8
Lee - $6.5
Koch - $6.375
Thomas - $6
Valentin - $5
Loazia - $4
Buehrle - $3.5
Garland - $2.3
Schoeny - $1.5
Wunsch - $800k
Politte - $800k
Alomar - $750k
Santiago - $550k
Marte - $330k
Rowand - $320k
Crede - $315k
Harris - $300k
Wright - $300k
Olivo - $300k
Uribe - $300k

I think they Signed Kelly W to an extention that was something to the tune of 2 years for 1.8 million

You're in the neighborhood..... Wright, Olivo and Harris have to make over the minimum, but that is peanuts in the big picture. I'm not sure how the Sox figure their payroll, but remember the Major League roster is actually 40 men, not just the active 25. I would think those players need to be factored in, but perhaps they won't fall under what KW speaks publicly of as his payroll.

Keep in mind that just because the payroll is over budget now, doesn't mean he has to make a trade now. KW could wait until March or May or July to adjust the roster. If we are out of the race in June, look for him to pare payroll. If we are in 1st place, perhaps JR will allow the additional $4 million or so.

Players 26-40 on the MLB payroll are paid minor league salaries.
