Opportunity to what...suck?

They can have him. I'll take my chances with Rauch, Wright, or Cotts before I sign Lidle.

The only thing I really remember him for was that like 40 inning streak of no runs given up, otherwise I just remember him for having a lot of wins despite having a Todd Ritchie-like ERA

Lidle has basically had three seasons as a full-time starter. He's a ground-ball pitcher, and on the grass in Oakland, he posted ERA's of 3.59 and 3.89 (in addition to low walks and hit totals). The he went to the turf in Toronto, where his ground balls often scooted through the fast infield, and his ERA was an ugly 5.75. He would have been worth a shot, depending on the price.

In comparison, Ritchie had always shown a propensity to walk batters and give up more hits than IP before we acquired him. If I remember correctly, KW believed Ritchie was going to "hit his stride" or whatever, which obviously never happened.

I thought Lidle would have been a great guy to give a chance to, a la Loaiza last season.

Lidle got a year 2.75 dollar deal seems reasonable

"I am not allowed to... er umm, I mean we may not make any more moves this offseason, we are pretty happy with our team the way it is."

I think Lidle for 2 years $5 million would've been a perfect addition as a 4th starter. His ERA would be way better off the crappy turf in Toronto and I wouldn't be surprised if he won 10-14 games with the Reds.
