Wow. This is getting embarrasing.

Why is that? Do we have to make a bunch of moves just for the heck of it?

Perhaps because the Sox as currently constituted look like a 3rd place team in the weakest division in baseball, at this point in time any resonable moves are better then no moves...

I don't see the logic there. Didn't they re-sign Mark G?

Walker would have been a lot better than Willie Harris.

While every other team is signing guys "just for the heck of it," we do zip.

I bet right when we do sign someone Lip is the first poster to say how stupid that move was.

This seems strange for them to re-sign Grudzy and then Walker too? One of them will be making too much money to ride the bench. Unless Grudzilanek moves over to SS and A-Gon leaves?

Hendry is up to something. I'm not sure what it is just yet, but he is up to something.

Well, KW can't sign any new players under JR's budget without clearing salary so free agents aren't really part of the equation at that point. That only leaves trades. Why do you think its a given that we'll collect more talent than we'll move in a trade?

There has to be a trade in the works. Gonzalez, Walker, and Grudzalanek all make too much money to ride the bench. Walker would have been a nice upgrade over Harris. Look for him to put up big numbers with those little league gaps at Wrigley.

I think that the decision was made some time ago that Willie Harris was out new second baseman for 2004. I do believe that Jose Valentin may have been considered an option at 2B if we picked up some SS by the name of Nomar something.

It's very telling when the only Sox story on the web site is also the shortest. (And I don't mean telling in terms of Grobber being a Cubs fan, so don't jump on that. I mean telling in terms of our complete inaction this offseason.)

If I read that right, Walker signed for 1.75 million - is that too much for us to pay for a second baseman?
As someone aid, just give koch to the mets and open up some room.
This is ridiculous.

And no reason for the Cubs to peddle him. The price is right, he can play outfield if necessary - gives them depth, yet another feature we sorely lack.
