Didn't he get hooked on needles a while back and isn't that why he had to retire??? I could have sworn I heard that from the Tribune on an interview with him a while back...

My only guess is drugs. I have never heard of an addiction to needles and if it exists it sounds painful.

My understanding of the situation was that he was busted going through an airport with a half-finished afghan. His teammates all laughed at him and he was shamed out of baseball.

af-ghan = a blanket or shawl of colored wool knitted or crocheted in strips or squares.

My grandmother knitted one of those for me once. Should I be afraid to travel with it?
