Sox should get Looper, Baez

Brad Looper was non-tendered by the Marlins. Baez was non-tendered by the Indians. Looking at the state of the Sox bullpen right now, I recommend the Sox sign one or both of these guys.

Of course if the A-Rod, Ramirez, Ordonez, Garciaparra trades happen between the 4 teams the Sox can have a bullpen of Marte, Williamson, Mota, Baez, Looper, an Wunsch as well as having Perez as a starter.

Can any of those guys serve as long relievers?

I think Danny Wrong will be in the BP to start '04 as long reliever.

I'd give Braden Looper a shot. Baez just plain sucks.

The Marlins chose Armando Benitez over Looper basically, so I can't trust Looper based on that fact. As for Baez, I thought he wasn't very good at all, and I think the Sox will be smart enough to not sign him considering we see Cleveland 18 or 19 times a year.
