View Full Version : All-American today White Sox tomorrow?
http://www.baseballnews.com/allamericans/currentallamericans.htm
Here is a pre-season list of Division I All-Americans.
Check out Rice's rp Jeff Niemann : 6'9 270, 17-0, awesome k/w ratio a 1.70 era and opponents are hitting a measly .196 off him.
Only a few northern players made the list , 2-Golden Domers and one Gopher.
Niemann should be the first pick next June.

I saw Niemann pitch in the College World Series last year. Guy can bring it, but IIRC has something of a funky arm motion. Seemed to throw across his body quite a bit, a la Jeff Weaver and Scott Elarton (before the injury)

I would guess that he would be picked before the sox get the chance to pick him.

With numbers like that in college, I thought the same thing. What number do the Sox have their first pick? Anyone know?

Neimann is projected to go as the #1 pick.
That in itself could be the kiss of death for the kid. Seems like a lot of #1's don't even make it to the bigs. Of course Prior shoots that theory down.
Joe Borchard was a can't miss .....hmmmm

Can we give the guy more than 100 MLB plate appearances before declaring him a bust?
