Hanger,
Count me in. But I think we should all be sober when we really have management have it. Cuz...If I'm drunk.....I think Kenny'll wanna beat me up too(Jerry will just try and take my wallet...again).

We need to do this in NUMBERS, and with Skilled Precision.
This Insurgency can Reap Good Fortune for us if we do this right.
The freaking media will be there, but they wont be there in numbers (they'll be too busy following Prior around town and covering Kerry Woods bartending exploits) This is a chance to make the Most Creative, and Stinging Criticisms in Sign/Banner/Voice known because the Media will cover this, If we do this Right

I'll lead this insurgency, and I'll even make a number of signs/banners to take to the Opening Ceremony. I'll need a number of you to Step Forward, and declare your in.
Either your With Us or Against Us. This 22 years of the Reinsdorf Regime has to come to an end. Maybe things wont change right away, but its got to start somewhere. Im tired of this organization already. We keep this up......we lose Nancy

Count me in. I haven't bought it yet, but I plan on buying the package for the weekend with the hotel room. Just waiting for a little cash...

And how, pray tell, do you plan on making this happen?

You can get all the publicity you want. JR's isn't going to sell the team just because you or a small group of fans show up at Sox Fest pissed off with signs. Hell the last ten years of crappy attendance hasn't even made him blink, what do you think a sign made out of posterboard is going to do?

And if we sit down and keep your mouths shut is going to do what?

At least we are trying to be heard.

I like the idea-but the owner enjoys the criticism-and he always has an answer that makes him look like the good guy . The best protest is flat not go-NOW THAT WOULD GET ATTN.

But if you absolutly must have that URIBE autograph, you must go.

Hey more power to ya.

I'm just saying that it isn't going to do any good other than to prove to the media how few Sox fans there are, and that the ones that are Sox fans hate the team. This kind of stuff has been going on for a decade now. It's time to change tactics.

Having any delusional thoughts about forcing JR to sell is insane. Nobody can make him sell. In fact trying to force him to sell will probably bring out his bullheadedness and he'll never sell just to prove his point.

Yes, good point. But then again, noone has stepped up and
put together a Precise Plan of Action Either. One man holding up a Posterboard looks great at the Opening Ceremony.
But 200 People with posterboards ........ that looks formidable

My plan is to hit the SOB where it hurts - in his pocketbook. I won't show my face there. I wouldn't waste the gas money.

I'm sure "Daddy Bank Pants" Reinsdorf will sorely miss your $15 Bucks.

Here's an Idea, what if we throw some Sub Sammiches at Kenny (or Kevin as they reffered to him on ESPN last night). As we chant we want Grinders!

As JR laughs and proceeds to slash payroll further as we prove to him that there is no fan base and that the ones that are here don't care, just that they have a personal vendetta against him.

This whole bitching about ownership thing is wearing a little thin. There is nothing we can do about it, so it really does no good to whine about it on a constant basis. In fact I think JR enjoys the whining, so all we're doing is proving the points he's made for his entire time on the southside. You're not going to get him to sell, so why even worry about it?

DSpivack

So is there then nothing we can do?

We have seen he doesn't really care about low attendance.

We start showing up a l'il more, still nothing really done.

We can't force him to sell, so what can we do?

Wait for him to sell?

Bobby;

Your comments while completely logical and accurate paint a very bleak picture for the future.

Sure it's meaningless and nothing is going to change but if people care enough to try to do something no matter how futile, against overwhelming odds, I think they should be applauded and encouraged.

There is nothing wrong with voicing your opinion and if those individuals feel better about themselves for having made the effort, more power to them.

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. I guess at least they are not hypocrites bitching about the whole organization but not being willing to do anything about it.

I thought Bobbys Comments about just Choosing another team
are Very Reasonable, and im sure, IN fact I KNOW thats what happened to a good portion of our teams fan base. He strikes a chord thats probably true of a good portion of our fans....or exfans

Note that the most economically, culturally and militarily dominant nation on Earth in 2003 got its start over 125 years ago when a small collection of a passionate individuals decided they didn't like the "current ownership".

Then again, there is something to be said for cursing our luck as Sox fans and drowning our sorrows in your favorite beverage... :gulp:

I cant even waste the money in February to see a **** team and hear bad excuses. I refuse to give money to the Sox or the Hyatt all weekend as i hear reasons why they need to downsize. I 'll wait till April to waste my money. I'm going to the damn casino that weekend! **** you jerry!

Now I've never been to Sox Fest before, but if it's anything like any public gathering, a group of people making a fuss will probably get escorted out pretty quickly.

200 People with signs are still 200 people who paid to get in. You could protest outside of the hotel, but again may get kicked out or told to leave.

As far as the media coverage of this, again, I don't live out there so I don't experience the Cub bias first hand, but I think that the Cub friendly media would have a ****ing field day with that. "Cub Fans are loyal and don't hate their team" etc. etc. etc. It would be good fodder for Mariotti and Co.

I'd have to agree. I give it about 200 sober people with signs about 30 minutes before they do something stupid and get themselves kicked out in whole or in part.

200 drunk Sox fans would not last 30 seconds.

Don't forget you will be on private property and regardless of how much you paid to get in, you can be asked to leave. Any city also requires a permit to stage a protest outside of the hotel and that would last about as long.

That being said I'm all for sending JR a message that we want to win, and No, I don't have a better suggestion. But I've taken far too many people to jail for coming up with great ideas like these.
