It is hard not to be a little depressed after the winter meetings and our seeming inactivity but there are a couple of things to keep in mind.

1) We did exactly what we were predicted to do and exactly what we did last year - nothing.

2) There were exactly 10 trades and 6 free agent signings at the winter meetings. That was it.

Go up and down the 30 teams in MLB. Very few have made significant moves. Our inactivity seems bad but we are showing up in a lot of rumors, so...

BTW. Do an internet search on each team. Every team has a fan site somewhere. Everyteams fan site says "Our owner sucks. Our Gm is incompetent. Everyone else is making moves and we are not.... Heck even the O's boards have tons of people whining about spending too much on Tejada. :therapy:

Good Point kempsted!

Here is the latest from story from MLB.com link (http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb_news.jsp?ymd=20031215&content_id=619186&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb)

With few exceptions -- the cast of the AL East, plus the Braves, Mets and Tigers, who clearly left the Big Easy with a stronger team than the one they arrived with -- the majority of teams didn't do any significant buying or bartering during their weekend in the French Quarter.

It's definitely time to ease off the panic button.

Just wondering...

Can you please tell us a date when you think the issues surrounding the lack of activity DO become a cause for concern?

How about Feb. 1st?

The Bartolo trade did happen mid-January last year.

Personally, I'd say April 3rd or so. It doesn't matter how early we get people, as long as we do by April 3rd there's no difference whatsoever in the number of games they play.

Lip Probably by Soxfest. If they don't make their usual token/let's-get-the-fans-excited move by then, then I get worried.
