I think if Frank's gone, Valentine should DH and only bat lefty.
I prefer the game when the pitchers bat, but I also love the idea that the old studs that can still hit get to linger around a bit longer at DH in the American league. I suppose you could say that I like the fact that there's one league in which the pitcher hits and one where there's a DH.

Ellis Burks would be a nice fit as long as he can come back after his injury.
