WSI is the best place to talk White Sox baseball around.

Frank Thomas is still on the team.

"Ozzie-Ball"

I have no idea if that is a positive or not. I just like typing "Ozzie-Ball"...

Let's give KW and company a little more time to work on things. You guys need to quit your crying :whiner: .

Here are some positives:

1b/DH - Konerko/Thomas
3b - Crede
RF - Ordonez :D:
LF - Lee
C - Olivio/Alomar
P - Burhle
- Loiza
- Marte

That's a pretty good base to build a team around and KW still has some cash in his pocket :gulp: . If we can get a quality 1 or 2 Starter and CF/Middle infield help, we should be in good shape. :putitontheboard

We don't have such a bad line up and really the only player we lost who started with the team in 2003 was Colon, right? We traded for Sullivan, R Alomar, Everett and we had Graffy in reserve. I will miss Graffy and Colon, but we can still rebound with what we have and might even pick up someone who can help, who knows?

CF-Rowand
RF-Maggs
LF- Lee
DH-Frank
IB-Konerko
2b-W Harris
SS-Jose V
3B-Crede
C-Olivo

I am only concerned about a starting pitcher and maybe one more in the pen. We still have 2-3 months to go folks. However, trying to be real positive about Jerry Reinsdorf as our team's owner is giving me a headache.

I am waiting until March to pass judgment. I am glad we didn't pay the $$$ that each of our FAs are getting. Fat Colon at $50M? Forget it. Not even the Yankees were willing to pay that. All we need is a really good SP and maybe another reasonable one to start the season. We can afford to swap a great hitter for the really good SP. Deals will be found for the other needs as the market swings towards the owners. The games don't start until April folks. And if our roster looks like this in April, then I will be negative too!!!

No one who misuses apostrophes can ever explain to me why, as above, they would write "Yankee's" and not "Cub's" as well, despite both being incorrect.

Oh, wait, that sucks.

1. Lee, Thomas, Ordonez still give us the best 3,4,5 in the division.

2. Crede showed enough potential that I would not have a problem with him hitting 6

3. Olivo, who was forced up a year to early, hit .250 in the second half. I expect him to hit in the .260's this year and be productive in the 8th spot. He will be mentioned for a gold glove next year.

4. Kenny said that he would be spending any free agent money on pitching. He attempted to reel in the big fish with a very competitive offer. He tried to trade for a back of the rotation starter. Now I expect the long coveted Ponson to become a priority.

5. Buhrle, Loiza, Garland is a good start to a rotation. Add Ponson and I could live with either Rauch, Cotts or a scrap heap rejuvination project.

There is a lot to look forward to next year, especially in this division.

Anyone who watched the Twins knows that its bullpen has been the MVP the last two years. With Guardado and Hawkins gone and Santana in the rotation that is in shambles.

Anyone who watched the Royals knows that its hot start in the beginning and biggest weakness at the end was due to its starting pitching. They have not addressed this area at all and lost their best relief pitcher (Grimsley).

Anyone who watched the Tigers knows they suck and that I should not waste more than one sentence on them.

Anyone who watched the Indians knows that is a team that is one year away but might pounce on this division in its weakened state. I fear the Indians more than any team in the division.

That is a lot of positive. Since there can be no negative in this thread I do not have to worry about being shot down.

The Blackhawks have the worst owner in ALL of sportsdom. If I were Daley, I'd give Bill W**** 20 minutes to get out of town. If he's still here after 20 minutes we should be allowed to go "Serbian" on him.

As for the rest of the thread, whew... thanks guys. I needed to be reminded of some of the positives. Ya gotta like:

Loaiza
Buehrle
Thomas
Magglio
Lee
Crede
Olivo's arm
Marte
Wunsch
Reed?
Gload?
Upper Deck Renovations
Chicken fajitas
Aquafina
The Red Frog for a buck

ahhhhh... I do feel better

MRKARNO
12-10-2003, 08:52 PM
And who ever said that all Loaiza could go was down? Why can't he go up? His K's were up, why couldnt they go up more?

Thomas: He's still great. WHy not 50 Homers, you saw that streak of ridiculousness in August

Maggs: He had a down year last year. He will be better

PK: He cant do much worse

Crede: Maybe he can return to 2002 form

Valentin: Maybe he can get his average up. He is still a cub killer

C. Lee: Great numbers last year. Could turn into an MVP calibur player

Buehrle: He wasnt as bad as the stats would indicate

Garland: Remember the quality start streak?

Marte: 1.58 ERA. No further questions

Reed: If he's ready, watch out.

Cotts: He's only started 3 times

Rowand: Look past the start and he put up great numbers last year.

So there are a lot of positives. It's just that the sox arent active on the FA market so we're whining. I think the white sox will put a product on the field that will be at worst 5 games out of the division lead next year.

The left field shower!!! I've got sort of a sensitive spot for the shower. I was 12 years old and spent a great part of the summer at Comiskey Park in the summer of '77 (oh man... I'm grinnin' ear to ear just thinking about it) and my brother and I would slink out there on super hot day games and get drenched to cool off. When Jerry took the shower out of Old Comiskey [crosses himself in an Eastern Orthodox Christian manner], part of me died. Although I haven't hit the shower since it's been re-installed, it means alot to me that it's back.

We have Buehrle thru 2007

We're not overpaying Colon

We have history on our side--even with the moves in the off-season, the Cubs will still suck (no back to back winning seasons since the early 1970's)--don't argue with history!!!

MMMM...Churros
