View Full Version : Why don't WE raid the Pirates?

According to the Pirates' official site, they didn't offer arbitration to any of their FAs, which means that Pokey Reese and Matt Stairs are on the market, among others.

Stairs was only getting paid $900k, and hit .292 w/20 homers...and he seems to draw a fair amount of walks. He might be a decent DH or 1B candidate if the Sox can unload Konerko...

I don't know if Reese would be a step up from Harris or not, but he DOES have 2 Gold Gloves in his past...and he was getting $2.5mil, so he might be a little more than the Sox want to risk.

Just a thought, though.

In principle I agree. Give Hendrys credit for finding teams weakspots and exploiting them: Dodgers, Pirates, and Marlins. One could argue KW did the same thing last year w/ Everett and Alomar tho. We need similar types of deals this offseason.
