View Full Version : Couple guys off the market
Two guys I had an interest in have been signed --
Steve Reed just signed a 1-year, $600,000 deal. I think he would have been perfect coming out of the pen for us.
And Eduardo Perez, who would have been a great platoon partner with a guy like Matt Stairs, just signed a 2 year, $1.7 million deal with Tampa Bay.

Robin Ventura also re-signed with the Dodgers, 1 year, $1.2 million.

A much better option that would not involve platooning players exists still:
1B Travis Lee was non-tendered by the D-Rays. He made $500,000 in '03 and the D-Ray's didn't exercise his '04 option. Sox should pick him up "cheaply" (and trade Konerko) and have a solid left-handed 'power' bat amongst the right handers.
Lee's 03 stats:
.275 AVG, .348 OBP, .459 SLG, .807 OPS
37 2Bs, 3 3Bs, 19 HRs, 70 RBIs, 64/97 BB/K, 6 SBs
Sign him to a $750,000 deal w/ a club option for '05 maybe?
