You read that right. The White Sox have purchased the contract of 3rd basemen TROY Cameron of the Joliet Jackhammers. In 43 games he batted .250 with 8 doubles, 3 triples, 4 home runs, and 22 RBI. I know, I know, when I saw the headline it made me jump off my couch, but then I read the article. :whiner:

Seems to me that the Sox are filling some minor league slots. Why the anxiety?

The topic initially read "Sox sign Cameron," as in MIKE Cameron.

:shudder:

Funny Stuff.

But for those of you not caring about these "insignificant" signings, how many were excited when they signed Loiaza?
How did he turn out?
I know that they aren't all "damonds in the rough", but at least the organization is showing some sort of pulse...

They need to make some moves that effect the MLB club because the pulse being shown is weak and fluttering..... like a heart right before a "grabber."

First Kelly Dransfeldt and now we get Troy Cameron too?!! It must be my birthday! WOW!! We better clear some room on the flagpole in center field for our 2004 AL Pennant! I bet they sold 3000 season ticket packages 1 hour after this hit the AP wire.

Hey! you changed it! I meant it to be about Troy Cameron the whole time. I SWEAR!. Seriously, the article also said he would start in AA or Winston-Salem not as a 3rd baseman, but as a 1b/DH. Yawn. Ask anyone on this board if they ever heard of Ryan Sienko. He was the Barry Bonds of the Northern League in 2002. The Sox picked him up but ended up releasing him at the end of 2002. I don't think we'll ever hear of Troy again, and I just posted it to see how many people actually thought we signed Mike Cameron. Besides, doesn't everyone want Aaron Rowand in center field next year?

While Kenny was busy signing Cameron yesterday, Gary Matthews Jr. was claimed off waivers from the Braves. While Matthews wouldn't have solved any problems, he would've made a nice platoon mate for Aaron Rowand in center. Oh well...

Ick. If that's the alternative, I'm just fine with the exciting Troy Cameron acquisition.

Well, as I said, he's no savior. However, he was free talent, can play center, and is good for a .330 OBP.

Troy Cameron article on WhiteSox.com (http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/cws/news/cws_news.jsp?ymd=20040113&content_id=627488&vkey=news_cws&fext=.jsp&c_id=cha)

Kenny lives in the Joliet region. Do you think KW is the one scouting the Jackhammers talent?

Guess KW is planning ahead for the day when Joe Crede is a free agent and we can't afford him.
